Stamps.com - charged for trial offer?
« on: June 20, 2009, 05:30:13 am »
I just did the Stamps.com four-week trial offer. I got credited pretty quickly, but I also got charged $17.94 to my credit card. I was under the impression that you would not be charged until the four weeks was up. Is this something that will be credited back to me or will I have to fight the charge? I sent an e-mail to Stamps.com support but I probably won't hear anything until Monday since they don't have weekend support.

Anyone have this experience after doing this offer?

I did the stamps offer a long time ago so I don't really remember all the details. I know I didn't have any problems with it. Since you emailed them i would just wait to hear back from them. Maybe they will refund your card. Some offers will take it out but once you cancel they refund it back. Whenever I do offers that are free trials I always write all the information down and make sure I cancel before the trial is over. I try to cancel a couple days before the trial is over just to be sure and in case something goes wrong. I'm sure you will hear back from them soon and they will refund your account.

^^^ No, I just signed up for it this morning and was charged as soon as I finished registering. The FC credit showed up shortly after.

I don't think it was a misdirected link since the $5.00 postage credit that's part of the trial was in my account when I logged in to Stamps.com. I thought maybe it was a "placeholder" charge that some companies use to make sure the card is valid but gets credited back immediately, but I'm reading that most people haven't had this issue with the offer. I hope I can get it cleared up.

I signed up for this offer awhile back and i love it. Stamps.com puts a pre authorization charge on your debit/credit card for $17.94 too make sure the money is there and the hold usually goes away in 3 business days or depends on your bank, so your not actually charged during your 4 week trial period.  So their is nothing too worrie about.

Did they reply?

Even I was charged or to be exact there's a pending charge on my card for an amount of $17.94.  ??? when i try to log in to stamps.com it shows they are having technical difficulties with their website and few of the features will be blah blah...Hmm...Y did I have to go and complete this offer today of all days.  :BangHead:

I had no problems with this offer.  Call them and ask them what's going on.  Could be some sort of snag in their system.

Yeah it's an authorization charge that will be credited back to your account if you decide not to retain your membership.
