I've got Windows 8 on this laptop and I don't like it. (Windows 8 I mean.) I just don't like the way it works, how everything is set up, and how much of a pain it can be. My laptop isn't a touch screen, so the way Windows 8 is for me is more of an inconvenience. Maybe in time, if I can bare sitting long enough trying to work it all out, then I might change my mind but I don't see that happening.

Based on the responses from some of my tech savvy friends who did upgrade to 8, their advice to me was to hang onto 7 for as long as I can because 8 is not very friendly with a lot of the software we use.  Win 7 handles beautifully with the workhorse programs I use for video/audio editing, web design, etc.  Win 8 was not designed to handle those programs well as none are "apps".  As a result many of the programs unexpectedly crash constantly on Win 8 due to incompatibility bugs.

If you have any type of workhorse software you use on XP or 7, my suggestion is to hold off on 8 until they work out some more compatibility issues.  If you are just using it for browsing the internet, then go for it.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the new interface having played with it a bit.  In my opinion, a laptop is more than just an elaborate tablet.  And it seems Win 8 was designed for the "tablet user".  That's not me.

Well for mw Windows is a non thought. I use a Mac and always will. I love the simplicity of the Mac and the superiority of the Mac. Life is much easier with a Mac.

Windows 8, windows 8 oh how I wish it was a little easier to deal with. I have windows 8 on my laptop but I will never put it on my desk top. I will keep trying to get the hang of it though.

I do not have Win 8 and I don't want it.  Once I get a new computer I'm going to try and put on Win 7.  I only want my tablet and phone to have a touch screen and apps, not my computer.

It's very different than Window 7, and it did take me some time to get used to.
Personally I think Window 8 works better for touch screen, but with mouse I would rather have Window 7!!

I am still using Windows 7.  Windows 7 is great.  I have no plans to use Windows 8.

This laptop has Windows 8.  At first it was hard to find things, but I have got use to it now.  I have had this laptop for almost a year now.  Also, it is a computer that I had never used before.  It is a Toshiba and I had never used this brand before, but I like it.
