Motorcycle road rage incident in NY
« on: October 07, 2013, 08:08:02 am »
I have been hearing about this motorcycle road rage incident that happened in New York.  This morning, I heard that three cops were on the scene of this tragedy and did nothing.  The undercover detective said he witnessed the incident, but said nothing for fear of his identity being known.  They are coming forward now, but said nothing when it happened.  I think they should have the book thrown at them because they did not do their job.  They were hired to serve and protect.  They did nothing while that man was being beat up by the motorcycle gang and nothing while his wife and child was being yanked out of the car.  What happened to our police officers, and what is your take on it? ??? ??? ??? :o :o :o

The undercover cop should have just called 911 so as not to blow his cover.  It can take weeks, months or years to establish their undercover role.  The two off-duty cops should have intervened, they were way out of line in my opinion.

Another reason I am licensed to and do carry a deadly weapon.  I grew up with firearms and am quite proficient in handling them.  I pray that I never will have to use them but would not hesitate in a second if I thought it necessary.  I think these police officers as well as any other able bodied person should be held accountable for what they could have but failed to do.  The Lord knows, though, and will judge them for their (in)actions.  I hope their conscious bothers them.
Have a wonderful day!

I think the News Media isn't telling the entire story.  They're only showing PARTS of the videos and not ALL of the videos.  Something else happened BEFORE this guy decided to ram right through a crowd of motorcycles and then they decided to kick his butt.  I heard there were FIVE OFF-DUTY COPS RIDING WITH THE MOTORCYCLISTS.  Needless to say, whatever really happened got out of hand.  They shouldn't be punishing one side and not the other - they were BOTH wrong.  Because of this fiasco, a man may be crippled for the rest of his life (due to the van running him down).  Sorry, but the driver of the van was in the wrong, too.  I think both sides need to be taken to task.

It's an incredible video.  Watch the whole thing if you have time on YouTube.  So sad this goes on in our world.  Shameful.

I do agree that the undercover guys should have done something, especially sense there was a child in the vehicle, but I guess we would have to know why they were there undercover in the first place. It must have been something important.I hope they got the evidence they needed to do something with these rough riders. There are actually some GOOD motercycle groups out there. This is not one of them!

Yeah, the news report I saw the night after that had happened showed the one motorcyclist cutting in front of the van and then slowing down. Apparently they were trying to clear up the traffic by doing this so that they could use the full road to do tricks. But the van driver didn't realize this and assumed that they were more trying to egg him on into doing something rash so that they could gang up on him (which is what happened in the end).

That was something that I found confusing about the story... It sounded like the police were notified before hand about the motorcycle group wanting to do this. If so, why didn't the police just clear a section of road for a few minutes (as they would for a parade), or at the very least have more police patrolling that area during the time. And as soon as the police noticed something wrong was happening (like the motorcyclist slowing down in front of the van), they could have stepped in right then and nipped the problem in the bud instead of letting it progress to the point that it did.

You know you are probably right but then on the other hand the driver didn't do right either from what I read he bumped the back of one of the motorcycles and then took off like a bat out of heck and seriously injured at least one motorcyclist.  I think the whole thing was barbaric from beginning to end and sorry but I don't think the driver was totally innocent.

It takes so long for an undercover to establish himself, I can understand why he didn't get involved.  It's a catch 22.  I'm not sure we are hearing the whole story though.  News broadcasters can sometimes be slanted with their stories.

I watched the video.  It cut off right when the attack started.
I bet there is more video out there than what I saw online.
It will be interesting to see how this one ends up.
I feel for the driver and his family, that had to be scary.

I seem to recall that there were over fifty motor cyclists. I say motorcyclists, not bikers, because they were punks(riding club bikes) that got out of control-not the organized group of lifestyle bikers (who drive American bikes) that generally vent against rival gangs...not innocent families. Two cops against fifty punks would have stood little to no chance of doing anything other than heating the situation up further. Maybe four guns between them resulting in twenty four to forty bullets in a state that burns cops at the stake for looking at a civilian the wrong way. Most of the footage that I saw showed minority membership in this crew of punks. We just finished one trial of a young security guard who killed a teenager while protecting himself and it turned into a huge racist battle even though neither party was caucasian. We weren't there and are in really no position to cast judgement. I believe that the police probably called for back up and were trained to do exactly as they did.

My take on it is that there are no innocent parties in this situation.  I think its trying to be played like the SUV driver was just trying to protect his family but I think like BlacksheepNY that a lot of folks were in the wrong here and I hope they don't just pick on one side.
