We have a few of them in our area, they are very popular and serve great meals. It is a nice homey feeling having dinner there.

Nothing really new there.  The Mansion over in Dallas is the former home of Aubrey Murphy and back in the early 50's folks were turning old railroad passenger cars into "diners".

I've never heard or been for the matter into one of these conversion houses, but that would seem neat. I have a family friend that has a professional looking kitchen, because the husband owns a catering business, but I guess that doesn't count.
