I don't mind the increases that much anymore since I hardly ever use snail mail.

Yes it is I heard.  To many people using the internet to pay bills instead of mailing them.

Inevitably, many people are going to complain when postage goes up again.  No one likes seeing prices go up, while for the most part your hourly wage or salary seems to stay stagnant.  But, when you think about how you can send a letter/card from say, Maine, across the entire continent to California, that $0.49 really doesn't seem all that unreasonable.  As more and more people do things like pay bills electronically, read magazines on tablets, etc. causing physical mail volume to lessen, they are going to have to find ways to mitigate financial losses.  Fuel prices also don't help.  Raising postage is just going to be one of many steps they're going to have to take.

I don't even understand how/why people get worked up over an increase in stamps. Really, are you willing to drive a postcard across the country for what they do it for?

Be real, people, it is PENNIES we are talking about here.

I do the majority of my messagin/bill paying online, so I don't use stamps often. But for someone to come to my house and deliver my mail in a timely manner to where it needs to go, 49 cents is a deal.

It's not a problem for me with postage stamps price being increased.  I very seldom use the post office anymore but am glad the post office is still there so that the people who work there still have a job and for those rare occasions when I no need the post office.

Discontinue the USPS service. Communicate with your loved one via email or phone. Paying for postage it is no guaratee they are going to get the letter.

I buy a book of Forever stamps, so whenever the postage goes up, I don't have to add to the stamps.  I bought a book of Forever stamps two weeks ago; they last me about 3 months.  I plan to buy some extras so I don't have to go through the hassle of digging into my wallet for extra pennies.
