holiday decorating
« on: September 24, 2013, 07:55:09 pm »
How soon do you all decorate for the next holiday? I have started this month for Halloween because I always fall short of myself and end up not being able to put all my decorations out for the holiday. Im being a little smarter this year and started with my Halloween decs!   YAH! Almost done!

I just love holiday decorating. I usually pick a day that the children are at school and then go to town on decorating the house. It's the only time that I honestly feel that the kids are genuinely thankful. I don't know if that they more think that the house looks good or that it signifies what is round the corner..... Christmas etc!.. presents..

I don't decorate much-just some mums and pumpkins. Some of our neighbors go all out.

I always put up the Halloween decos on October 1st.  The day of Halloween, I'll add all of my finishing touches so that they're ready for the kiddies at night.  The day immediately following Halloween, all the stuff comes down and packed away until next year.  I don't usually put up any decorations for Thanksgiving but, immediately following Thanksgiving is when I get out all the Christmas decorations and start putting those up (lights, indoor and outdoor, tree, etc.).  This usually takes a couple of days because my brother and I put up all the lights on one day and then start on the Christmas tree the next day.  It's a huge tree, 9-1/2 feet, so we've got to haul out the ladders and stuff for decorating the tree and hanging any indoor lights because the windows are way up there, too, LOL.  I love decorations!   :D

I don't really decorate for anything but Christmas. I have always had an artificial tree and so my tradition is to put everything up on Thanksgiving weekend and take it down sometime around new years.

I don't really decorate for Halloween because it is too much work to clean up especially those pumpkins. But I do decorate a little for Christmas. Just the lights around the outer part of the house and a few indoors. But nothing major. I am always thinking of the future, yes that's the cleaning up time and I am not happy doing a lot of cleaning up when it's too cold for my bones!!!

I no longer decorate for Halloween, no kids, and we dont get kids trick or treating in my area.

Holiday Dinners are done at my house, lots of acerage, and room

I decorate for Christmas 2 days before Thanksgiving, that way when company come over for Thanksgiving Day Dinner, the house is festive

Also decorate a bit for Easter, but thats about it

For Halloween and such, I generally start when October starts.  That's about the earliest as far as most holidays go.  Normally I wait for the month that the holiday is in to start before I start decorating, but that only works when the holiday is later in the month.

For Halloween I usually start at the beginning of October.  I don't have many Thanksgiving decorations, so I just leave some of the Fall type decor up from Halloween stuff.  For Christmas I start putting things up after Thanksgiving.

We decorate the yard and garage pretty heavily for Halloween.  Usually, we wait until about mid-month.
