Halloween safety?
« on: September 18, 2013, 10:40:33 am »
How many are NOT taking your kids out treat or treating this year? I willl only take my grandchildren to my relatives houses. It is getting so scarey thinking what people do to harm or kill children with poison candy, razor blades etc. I will not allow my children to go anywhere without me or to any houses we dare not derinitely sure of the people. Please have a safe Halloween! Watch your children and your pets!

Thanks for the heads up. I have never had any issue like that with my neighborhood as well as this town. But it's always good to be aware and in the know. Hopefully the kids will enjoy this year without any real threat to their safety. Thanks!!!

We only ever do the event at the local mall and family's houses. I worry too much with the dangers with contaminated candy and my children in the dark with traffic.

It's really sad the way the world is now.  When my girls were young, they went out trick & treating with a group of kids from the neighborhood (they were about 10 years, so adults didn't have to go), there was never any fear of anyone hurting them or giving them poison candy, razor blades, etc.  They would come home with bags full.  Now only years later, my daughters go with their kids and only to close friends/neighbors/family.  What a sad world we have become that kids are denied having fun one night a year.   :'(

My parents always went through my candy bag before letting me eat anything.

We go out trick or treating but never eat anything that is not checked first. Where I used to live they only do trick or treating at the schools.

Nancy I remember those days when as a child me and a couple cousins went out for hours all by ourselfs. That was back in the 70s, our parents didnt have to worry, and the only thing we had to be afraid of was other kids hiding in the bushes to jump out and scare us lol

It is scary now days, and if I had kids I would only take them to relatives or close friends.

I live in a small town and the town's shops/stores/police/fire etc hand out candy, they have hay rides down town, and several games all put on by the town, the kids can go shop to shop to get their candy

We live in a rural area so we usually don't take our kids "Trick or Treating"...instead we go to the fall festival, trunk or treat at our church....They get tons of candy and we have a great time!!!

It is rare to even see trick or treaters in our town and my kids are grown with no kids of their own.  Our downtown does a halloween thing where the shop owners have someone sit out front and hand out candy I'm sure in the hopes the parents will come in and shop but regardless it keeps the little ones from being out in the streets to get candy.  I don't think its safe.  We don't have anyone come to our house because we are way out in the country.  My sons live in a neighborhood but no one even came last year and we bought candy.

My kids are always safe. They never go out alone. But I understand how you feel. Nothing is as it used to be.

When I was younger I always went with my dad. Last time I went out I was 12 and had a party so there was a group of us and it was a lot of fun. The neighborhood I lived in at the time we didn't really have to worry about anything. It's sad that there are people out there who want to harm kids and ruin everything.

Remember the protection spell chant when you carve your Holiday Halloween pumpkins: I am rubber; you are glue.  Whatever you sling at me will bounce off and stick to you.  This will be helpful for safety living through the bewitching hour.  People don't say trick or treat for nothing  :notworthy: Stay focus  Good luck   :o
