Gross eating out experiences

What is the grossest restaurant or fast food experience you have had?

I have had loads of them and am curious what others have to say.

I remember one time when I was in high school going with a friend and her parents to a local Mexican place.  Not like a Taco Bell.  A sit-down expensive dinner place.  And it was not only bad, but it was bad beyond belief, but I did my best to eat anyway because they were true fans of the place and I just wanted to be tactful.  I just could not say that it was bad.

I've had a couple where the establishment was really dirty and the food was just awful (think sitting under a heat lamp for ages with no flavor). Similar to what they'd feed you in prison.

The food was not good at all, the floors were not done, and it was not a friendly place to go too so I have never been back there

Latest was at KFC, the floors were so greasy when we walked into the door, that it was like a skating rink, we went for the buffet, and the food was luke warm, and the tables and chairs were sticky. There was a bank of 4 trash cans where you put your trash then the trays, that you could see between them, and there was old sporks and food scraps

I called KFC coorporate, and they told the manager of the store, who then called me and wanted to give me 2 free buffets, I asked if I could have something different, or just coupons so I could eat at another of their restaurants and was told no to both. I told her she could keep her offer I wouldnt be coming back

I kept hearing about Popeye's so I went to one in Albuquerque.  I could smell the aroma of old grease before I even walked into the parking lot.  Inside it felt dead.  None of the customers were talking or having a good time.  The staff was cheery enough and I was on a mission to see what was so special about this chain.  I ordered the crayfish, but they were out of cocktail sauce.  The food was skimpy and everything was greasy and tasted like fish oil, even the biscuit.  Even the soda didn't taste right.  It all sat like a rock in my stomach.  I'll not be going to that chain again.  :angry7:

I was at a lovely restaurant in Boston, and needed to use the restroom.

It was absolutely crawling with cockroaches. I've never seen anything like it in my life.

Oh, awful. I recently heard someone say to judge a restaurant by how clean the bathrooms are. Good advice, I think.

My family and I went to a nice place to eat one time and an elder woman came in from the parking lot and started throwing up blood all over the floor and we had just gotten our food. Needless to say we couldn't eat after that and we never went back.

I used to work at a restaurant.  I've seen it all.  Cooks dropping food on the floor and putting it right back on the plate. How dirty everyone's hands really are.  It makes me laugh when people freak out about hair in their food.  That's the least of your problems!

My family and I took my sister my sister and her family to a nearby Chinese restaurant called the Golden Pheasant. Needless to say it tastes like left over staled lo-mein noodles with strong taste of vinegar in it. the bathroom was so smelly and dirty like people urinate all over the floor and was never clean. and no other customers but ourselves during the entire time. That was my first and ever last time. Remember do not go to any Chinese restaurant with the word "golden" on it 'cause that wasn't golden at all. LOL.

I don't have many experiences, but this one stands out.  I lived in Chicago, worked as a Clerk for a not-for-profit Social Service agency, and it was Secretary's Day. The CEO of the company took us out to lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, which was not far from work.  I ordered shrimp fried rice, and that was the first time I can actually say that the rice had a taste as if it was burnt.  Every time I put it in my mouth, a frown came across my face.  My supervisor made up for it by buying me some shrimp from Lawrence's Fisheries.  It was delicious.  A second experience I had was from a suburban restaurant called Shakey's.  I ate some chicken and spent the night with a case of severe heartburn. :o :o :o ??? ??? ???

I once went to a Popeye's chicken place and the chicken looked like they had soaked it in the oil they fry the food in. It was so nasty looking. :P

This is  a hearsay story.  Years ago there was a restaurant in the town next door to mine. I'd eaten there a few times.  Shortly after high school a friend of mine got a job there.  I think she was waitressing.  She only worked there one shift and never returned.  According to her the kitchen was so disgusting it turned her stomach and she would never eat there again herself.  They had washed out 10 gallon paint buckets and used them for whole chickens.  The raw chickens sat in those buckets the whole time she was working.  I have no idea what they were for but the fact that they were left out sitting out for that long sickened me.
