Women were born just as free as men were.  We're not here to "obey" or be slaves to anyone.  We were put on this Earth to COMPLIMENT each other because both men and women have something valuable to give - to each other - and to the world.

My husband lives by the ways of the Bible, as I do. He supports his family in every way, and I obey him. Now that being said, he doesn't miss treat me in any way, I actually make most decisions in our family, but if something comes up that he really feels strong about, I would never go against his wishes. I do this because I love my husband, and completely trust him, and I think any wife would do the same, they just don't all consider it as obeying..

They think that we should bow to them. I will not do that. We are supposed to be equal.

I dont understand why people think just because you have a *bleep* you are entitled to rule world or a womans life. If I as woman have the ability to create and give life than I have more power not you why should I have to listen to your inane ramblings

Guys I love this conversation.. about this word Obey.. The question asked, why don't women
obey their men?. Well, my way of understanding. Women should not obey their men or men
should not obey their women but they should give respectful and caring to each other. But
to Obey God Laws... We all shall equally respectfully, we all shall equally caring and so so
on with God Beautiful Words. Beautiful, Beautiful  words of God.... Ladies and Gentlement
I Love You All..... Peace 2 You All.... :angel11: :angel11:

can't imagine that anyone would consider a marriage as a need to obey, its all about cooperation.

I don't think women need to obey the men, when the women was created God told Adam the she was a compliment to him not a slave, so it should of been a discussion.  As for Adam God said he was the head of his household so when a husband and wife work together than we wouldn't be in the predicament because Adam new better so he wasn't deceived like eve was so he followed her rather than saying no.

I am not surprised by some of these responses.  My husband believes that I am supposed to obey him.  For instance, the subject of burial insurance came up.  His sister told him that $5,000 will not bury a person.  He decided to look into more insurance besides the $5,000 we have on each other's bodies.  The funeral home here in West Point, MS,  is reputable and does good work.  Another one of his sisters told him she has her entire family insured at $30,000 each and she is only paying $26.  He jumped the gun and thought I was going along with him on this.  The other funeral home is in Starkville, MS and I know nothing about it.  On this subject I balked because of two reasons:  I like the work done at our funeral home and knew that we could add to the policy we already have and he was trying to go cheap.  Finally, I actually won this argument.  Not only are we insured, but my grandson is also insured and we still have the first policy.  We are out of nearly $80+ dollars, but I am happy with the outcome.  We argue because he wants to tell me what to do, and I told him that I married him and he has to listen to me also.  He tried yesterday and told me we don't get mad with the pastor at our church when he calls us "fat" and I pointed out to him that I didn't marry the pastor, nor did I marry his family; I married his big head.  He no longer thought it was funny. :male: :female: :female:

I think people are so confused because some people think that a female should obey the male. OR we know that a female and a male should be equal and work together.

my father was like that.being that he said the way it was gonna be..he chose my mama's clothes,everything..she did as he said..well my mama finally grew up one day and decided she could make decisions too.well my father didn't like this.they divorced, and with each of his 2 wives and girlfriends he tried the same thing..my sister is just like him,her husband does as she says and nothing more..me,i don't think so.i have a brain and no one is gonna treat me like that..i work and help contribute to the house.my voice is just as good as my husbands..we decide things together..if we dont agree it doesn't get done until we come to an agreement..he loses and i lose...it's equality and the best way to be...i married a husband not my father and no one will tell me what to do

My ex was that way. Not only was i to Obey him, but i was to do for him all the time.  He also had another saying do as i say not as i do. Dang i never had  time to play around on him like he did me. not with working in the hay fields helping plant crops fixing meals for the hired hands, laundry taking of 2 active boys, my garden, canning. Darn i am tired again. But now you know why he is the ex. Oh did i say he would be gone for weeks at time and parting at night while he was gone. the creep

I see I am not the only female who has a problem with the word "obey".  My husband throws the word around at will.  If I actually obeyed him, I would lose the right to make my own decisions.  I cannot help it because his sisters actually tell him what to do, but I have the right to make my own decisions.  I know there are men who try to strip women down to being submissive creatures, but I am not one.   As I told my husband, "Just because you wear the pants, I do not have to obey you. My father has been dead since I was 2, and he has been dead 53 years.  And I don't see you as being part of the Army.  You are not a general, so you can get over yourself".  I asked my brother in-law why they nicknamed him "Baby", and he explained it to me that "he played the baby role to get what he wanted, and the name stuck."  He found out yesterday that I had $20 stashed away, and he had no idea.  He found out because we were out yesterday and, because of a screw up with my cellphone company, I needed to get a card to put in the reserve.  He went in to get it and I gave him $40.  It shocked him because he thought I didn't have enough to cover it.  Not only did I cover it, I had $7 left over.  Men think they have the right to hold things over their heads and I hate to ask him for anything because he feels justified to tell me "I have my hand out but cannot do what he tells me to do". :female: :male: :female:

I have several thoughts.  In the wedding vows the man also promises to love honor cherish and obey his wife.  The two become one.  By God's plan the man should be the leader of the household.  But that is not the case.  You have a ton of men who are lazy and if the family has a place to live the woman is working.  Or the man is not even around.
Anyway, the Bible does say for wives to submit to their husbands but it also says for the husband to love his wife as himself.  It also says after you marry your body is not your own but belongs to the other.  It goes both ways but the man is suppose to be the leader of the household.

I also have thought about before what about women who never marry and live alone and buy a house.  Are they doing wrong for they are the head of the household.

Things are so screwed up.  Seems there are very few who are doing things as God planned :(
