easily misunderstood
« on: September 12, 2013, 06:31:08 am »
someone asked me a question. When I answered it, she said "that's not what I asked."
I had answered the question the first time. She said "that's not what I asked." again. I answered a slightly different way for clarification. She still wasn't satisfied.
I surely don't know what answer she was looking for.
She already had a preconceived notion and made up her mind BEFORE she asked me the question.

There are people who have preconceived notions about a person before they actually get to know them.  It sounds like "Don't judge a book by its cover".  My late brother in-law was like that initially about me.  His reasoning was because I was dating his brother (now my husband) and he wanted another woman to be here, although she was ripping him off.  He got a better understanding of me once he got to really know me.  With people like that, you have to be diplomatic, because they will actually *bleep* you off and diplomacy and finesse will fly out of the window.  You had answered her question, but she was determined to not be satisfied with any answer you gave.  She basically discriminated against you and, more likely than not, don't really have a reason why.  I lived in Chicago and was trying to get work with a temp agency.  I put in my application online, and got a phone call from the lady who was supposed to be interviewing me on Monday who proceeded to tell me "you may as well stay at home because I have better things to do".  Although I was puzzled by her reaction, I did as she asked.  I later found out that she had done that to not only me, but others, and the company let her go for that reason.  So you are not the only person in this world to meet someone with preconceived notions. ??? ??? ???

Yeah.. I know how you feel I have misunderstood questions happen all the time the main annoying part is they generally result into an argument. :-\ it really sucks when that happens honestly.
