Drinking vs Smoking

What are your thoughts on drinking and/or smoking, and which habit is more worse? Which habit do you think is harder to overcome?

Just because that garbage is legal, does not mean it can't harm your system especially since both are potentially addictive. I'd stay away from both cigarettes and alcohol.

I think they are both damaging but smoking is deffiently worse, people who drink normally only drinking on the weekends but people who smoke are smoking about a pack a day... Everyday!

I think drinking is not bad as smoking, I don`t like the smell of cigarettes, If someones drink occasionally is not that bad. Its relaxing. Epecially if someones worked all weekdays, its nice to have relaxing week end, drink a little with the friends or family.

I think both can be nasty and addictive.  That said, smoking is more of a regular thing, whereas drinking is more once in a while, I hope.  I think there has been more damage caused medically from smoking.  Of course, drinking can be quite harmful also, if taken to extremes.  I guess both are bad for you and it's your job to curb your use. :-X

I think this is a very good question. All I can say is what I have seen with friends and family. Yes they are both addictive and not good for you. I have seen more damage with drinking than I have seen with smoking, I feel that drinking can damage a relationship especially if the person can not handle drinking!! Smoking I don't see damaging a relationship, where I have seen drinking going to excess being fatal. Don't get me wrong I am not a supporter of smoking but, I have seen more damage to individuals and relationships because of drinking, not so much with smoking.

Both are equally addictive. Drinking and driving is horrible and can kill others as well as second hand smoke.

Both are equally addictive.  I watched my girlfriend's husband die from alcohol, he went into rehab so many times but it never worked.  On the other hand, I smoked for years (it was the cool thing to do), now I suffer with COPD which, in time, will kill me.  They are both bad, but unfortunately are both considered "legal drugs" and are available to anyone.

They're both bad, but I believe smoking is worse for you (unless you're like, an alcoholic). Also the harder habit to kick due to the nicotine.

I think that everyone is prone to different vices and if imbibed enough a physical withdrawal can occur.  I think that alcohol affects a person's life, and those in the person's surroundings, more adversely than cigarettes.  Alcohol can alter a person's judgement and cause them to make poor choices that may result in the ultimate of bad situations.  Smoking cigarettes will affect a smaller population-cancer for the person smoking and second hand health problems for all who come in contact with the smoker's aftermath.  I think that alcohol would be easier to quit because an addict can sink to their lowest denominator quickly with alcohol and the shock of hitting bottom can be enough to quit.  Smoking is more socially acceptable and I think that the nicotine is much harder to overcome.

I quit smoking over 13 years ago. With smoking with all of the chemicals that they have in it now it is even worse for any kids in the same vehicle or anyone for that matter. As far as drinking if you drink responsibly it is fine. Dont drink and drive.
