My husband has this habit of going to churches and leaving at the end.  If they are serving food, I would at least like to see what they are serving before leaving and get myself a plate.  But he leaves so fast, it makes no sense.  I told him yesterday that he needs to stop being so paranoid and acting as if someone is out to poison him.  That is because he did it again yesterday.  We went to a church that was serving refreshments and he left because he claimed they were serving hamburgers.  He actually thought I was going to cook when I got home, and I let him know that "you were at a spot where getting a plate would not have hurt".  I was told that his father left the house with a man and he was dead the next time they saw him; it is suspected he was poisoned.  He was a child then, and he is 53 now.  Am I being insensitive, or do he need to stop this?  I believe there are some good cooks out there, and it is embarrassing to go to a church and have him rush out like he is antisocial.  He used to do it at our church, and he will stick around now because he gets a check for cleaning up the church, while I get a check for doing the books.  He then expects me to come home and cook.  He would have cooked yesterday if we had pork chops, but he didn't get any and neither did I when we went grocery shopping.  My sister in-law and his cousin talked to him because he would rush out the door like he was missing something, when all he planned to do was look at TV.  MY mother in-law is in a nursing home and I can understand leaving because he wants to go see her, but I am not down with leaving a church when they are serving food and then expecting me to come home and cook because he is paranoid. ??? ??? ???

Just a suggestion, but maybe he needs to talk this over with a Pastor, or one who is anointed in Healing, and have them lay hands on him. In our Church we have seen a lot of Fear based things healed. Fear is of the Devil and needs to be taken care of.
Have a Blessed Day and I hope you figure it out.

I don't eat food from just anywhere. I go to other churches fairly often for different programs and I usually don't stay and get food from them. It's a personal choice of where you choose to get your food from. I don't expect other people to cook for me if I don't get the free food but it's my choice not to take it. I don't see why you're offended that he's not eating it. You didn't prepare it and he's not stopping you from getting food

I thought this was dear Abbey there for a second. The one who answered have him talk to the minister was the right answer. And maybe he is getting paid for not eating?

Sounds like he needs some help. We go to church dinners and sometimes i really have to watch what i get to eat, but it is not that i am afraid that i will be poisioned it is that once in a while someone will bring in a great dessert and it looks so good , but has strawberries in it and that is a big no no for me. But i do so enjoy other peoples cooking. And of course i always bring something that we like also. So  we know have something that we really enjoy. That is if any is left when we get to it.

First of all, this is in the wrong board. This should be in Off-Topic.  Second, are you sure the food is the main issue or him not wanting to be there? If your hubby wants to leave, then let him go to the car and he can wait for you.

First of all, I thought it was in off-topic.  Secondly, whether or not he wanted to be there is irrelevant.  The fact is, he is the usher at our church, and he is not supposed to get up and leave like that.  His sisters were there, his cousin was there (she is an usher), but he told me I was going to get left if I went in the back.  I did not protest, but he also knew it was not going to be the end of it.  I told his brother about it, and he keeled over in laughter.  I found out from his brother that they did indeed find his father dead.  Someone shot him and threw his body in the ditch not far from where they lived.  Maybe you don't find his behavior annoying, but it is to me.   If he was starving like Marvin, he would have gone back there too.  We went to another church and I was shocked he actually went in the back to eat, which led to a discussion that this church served pulled pork sandwiches, potato chips and cake; when our church is serving food to visitors, our pastor goes all out. He serves them a real dinner.  He does these things to aggravate me.  We went to our Pastor's 2nd Anniversary.  He told me to go sit in the car after it was over.  He came back with a plate that he claimed they made him take.  I was mad because I had to sit in the car, but you didn't bother to ask them for an extra plate?  Maybe I am wrong.  I was at a lady's house and she was making tuna salad.  I was fine until she said she put raw eggs in her tuna salad, when I know that boiled eggs go in tuna salad.  I passed it up that time.  ??? :BangHead:
