They put air in it.  I find out a lot of times when I purchase something and it claims it is 10 pounds, but I am going to buy a scale because I clean whatever meat I buy and, by the time I take all that yukky fat off my chicken leg quarters and pan trout, I believe I have taken off what makes it weigh so much.  I have heard it said that the person behind the counter puts his thumb on the scale when he is weighing it.  I am inclined to believe it too. ??? ??? ???

Well, the "can" IS actually "smaller" than it USED to be.  I had handy one of the "older" style cans and it was a bit larger than what we can get now.  So, to answer your question, they did the same thing a LOT of other companies are doing.. which is.. they're cutting down on the product and charging you more money.

Have you noticed that bags of Sugar are no longer 5 lbs.?  Now, they're 4 lbs.  You get a better bargain buying a 10 lb. bag.

I buy the 10 lb bags even though it takes me a few months to use. I hate being charged more for less!

Yep it is the same all over, making smaller items charging more. Even the clothes, they are getting cheaper all the time and what i mean is the material is lousy. But they cost as much if not more and don't hold up.  It is called greed, greed.

You know what irks me the most?  They REFUSE to make 100% cotton jeans for women anymore!  I remember reading posts on the Levis website and women were complaining about that all over the place.  Their excuse was that they just don't make them that way anymore.  Oh yeah??  Then how come when you look at MEN'S JEANS they're "100% COTTON?"  UGH!!!!

Some of the jeans they make today are SO horrible and certainly NOT worth the phenomenal prices they're asking for them.  My daughter came home with a pair of jeans that actually smelled like GASOLINE.  I thought washing them would do the trick.  NOPE - that disgusting SMELL stayed in them and we wound up throwing them away instead.  PS:  They WEREN'T made in the U.S.A.

GARBAGE.. ALL of them!

I never noticed the difference. I always buy the 5lb that says it on the can. My husband drinks it by the glass, not the cup. Very picky, too. It must be Folgers Breakfast Blend

I haven't even noticed that. I just buy the big bargain cans at Winn-Dixie or the dollar store.  I live alone and drink 2-3 cups a day max, so it lasts a while.

I agree - it seems so many things like that (ex. potato chips, etc.) are shrinking, yet the price is rising.  Anymore, most everything is money, money, money...

Well, it's either they reduce the size of everything or raise the price for everything.

They made a compromise. The reduce the size by only a small percentage and raise the prices by only a small percentage.

Companies that make retail products make them slightly smaller and price them slightly higher in hopes that the consumer does not notice. This is one consumer the DOES notice.
