I have sinus troubles frequently and never go to the doctor for it, just use a 12 hour nasal spray occasionally.

I have very frequent sinus infection but for me not much works. I know others say the netti pot works but I have never used it. It does however make sense that our noses should be cleaned like everything else to prevent bacteria from taking over. My nose has been broke so it has caused me many sinus issues. I just do the best I can, even though I may feel horrible. I also have allergies so that further complicates things.

You might give a netti pot or someother irrigation a try.  Saline spray might help too.  Mucinex (I'm cheap and use a generic) sometimes helps me.  It thins the mucus so it comes out sooner rather than just sitting in the sinsus. I think you can get infection when it just stays there allowing bacteria to take hold. I hate to say it but I usually end up having to go to the doctor and get antibotics.

I am a nurse and have had sinus surgery one time.  I still have problems during the fall with ragweed, which invariably leads to a sinus infection.  One of the best and easiest things is steam, either a device you can get close to (even steam hair curlers) or fill the bathroom sink with hot water.  Put your face close to it and put a towel over your head.  It will make a huge difference by making your nose pour, which is what you need.  Good luck.

Flush your sinuses with salt water.
First time is the worst but it works.

There's this special "neti pot" bottle made by waterpik that comes with saline packs that have to be added to the bottle.
It makes it easier to use the concept of the neti pot.

On their website, the cheapest one is 15 bucks.

Flushing your nose with warm salt water really does work. My sinuses were inflamed a couple weeks ago and I am in the same boat as far as not being able to afford to go to the doctor. My neighbor, who is a retired RN, suggested the salt water remedy and yes it does burn the first couple times, but then it has a real soothing effect. Avoid sinus sprays, it is said that they can become very addictive; a saline spray is safer.

I have had constant ear, nose, sinus problems and the one thing that brings instant relief is a Neti Pot. I hate using it, but when I don't.. I can tell the difference. Just remember to always use distilled water with the salt packs.
