Counting calories can be a huge headache! But it works, it really does.  I lost my first 30 lbs through the help of counting calories.  Now for these last 10 I've been just eating small portions and working out daily.  Good luck!

I'm calculating calorie intake manually. I keep a diary of sorts of what I eat. I break down each meal and get the calories. It's sometimes bothersome because I have to break down my recipes. I have a food value book and I use the internet to find calories and serving size. When I started doing this I couldn't believe how many calories are in pasta. Yikes! I'm taking in 1400 calories a day and I exercise at least 5 days a week. So far I've lost 2 pounds and I'm getting stronger.

SparkPeople is great! I enjoy starting off my day with their encouraging and informative emails.  You should definitely go back, don't let not having a smart phone be an obstacle :)

I'm starting a new diet too. I really need to take off some pounds but I don't have a smart phone so the aps won't work for me. I will probably go back to Sparkpeople. That is a good supportive site for weight loss.

All of that sounds good, but you really have to stick with it, which have been hard for me but I keep trying. :crybaby2:

I wish you all the best on your quest to lose weight. Remember that once you lose the weight, you have to maintain your vigilance, or you'll gain the weight back. And many people not only gain it back, but gain back more than before. Not to be a total spoil sport, but after diets, you can't return to your old way of eating.

It kind of takes a forever lifestyle change that most people won't commit to.

That being said, my cousin and her husband have come across the points program on Weight Watchers and they've had tremendous success, especially with combining exercise along with their weight loss program. And they still enjoy the things they don't want to give up, like some social drinking and killer good foods.

Buena suerte, chica!

I use an app on the walgreens.com site called Balance Rewards that gives you 20 points per day to record your daily weight and miles run or walked in exercise. The points add up fast and lead you to discounts at Walgreens that are in multiples of $5. Keeps you motivated to lose weight and also has nice rewards!

Good luck girl! Great job your first 4 pounds  :notworthy: Sounds like you found something that is working for you!
I am trying to lose a few pounds also - I am just trying to reduce my caloric intake mostly, and a lot less sugar and no cokes. I've got the no cokes down - very rarely crave them!
Now just working on the sugar and less calories overall - hope to be where I want to be by end of the year.

Good luck everyone, Hope you make your goal.
wow! I recently went through about 10 radiation treatments and God revealed to me that my cancer was gone and sure enough all tests proved Him right! However, I have lost about 55 lbs. for some unknown reason, my appetite is back to 100%, I never lost weight during treatments and never lost my energy. I`ve always been skinny, and had fortunately gained up to 184 lbs. before being diagnosed. Now I`m back to 129 lbs. and feeling a little scared!

I stopped going on diets, every time I get off them i gain more weight than what i lost. Now that I don't diet I've been the same weight give or take. Thanks for the information on this app. I'll give it a try too, maybe it will help me lose some weight.
