Weight Loss
« on: August 16, 2013, 07:40:20 pm »
I have recently been looking for ways to loose a few pounds. Since last year I have found myself on various different diets that have had my weight fluctuating. I recently came across this app that I downloaded to my smartphone. It helps me to keep track of my meals and how many calories I'm taking in. I am currently on a 1200 calorie plan, that will have me down to 145 lbs by December 24,2013. I'm excited considering that I have already lost 3 lbs in this week alone. This is a free app, that is kind of similar to weight watchers but instead of points it gives you a specific calorie intake based on your current weight and how much weight you are looking to loose. I'm excited, and motivated.

Fascinating.  Does it take into account exercise as well, or just food intake?

I really wish they would come up with some kind of app that would scan bar codes (or something) so that if I am making a sandwich, I could scan the ham, cheese, mayo, and lettuce, input an approximate amount per, and it would give me about my calorie intake for that sandwich, not that ham sandwiches in general are 300-400 calories.

I expierence the same issue. I also use an app as well which works if i keep up with it. I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with it though.

This sounds like a sensible approach to weight loss-- don't fall into the "just take a pill" trap.  The only way to achieve permanent weight loss is to modify your eating habits and maybe other lifestyle practices as well.  Good luck!

Congrats!!! I know how wonderful it feels to finally start stepping on the scale and seeing the numbers go down.  If you don't fall temptation to having too many cheat days like I do you'll probably meet your goal before your goal date.

Sparkpeople lets you scan barcodes to track food. I love it

Be careful of the 1200 calorie diets especially if you're actually active. Your body does require adequate fuel to function properly

I have used Fitness Pal for a while, I think it works really well. I do like that you can scan bar codes and not have to manually enter everything.

I have always been pretty healthy and active but BECAUSE I'm active I sometimes feel like I have a free pass to eat everything.... I ended up gaining about 15 pounds in the last year and lost it all in about 2.5 months on the 1200 calorie plan.

What you put in your mouth is the most important part of weight loss, but also incorporate exercise to see long term results.

I bought the book " 17 day diet" and I lost 14 pounds the first 17 days.  It is awesome.  So you might want to try that one.  They sell at walmart.  That is where I bought mine.

As of today I'm down 4 lbs. I'm so excited. It is a little tiresome scanning barcodes, and having to keep track of every meal but it is worth it.
