Wow, that's overkill.  I understand it the teacher wants something special that's not really needed but would be nice to have, but not having certain staple items would be a pain.

When I was in school, they would give us a list that we needed to go get and yet we rarely used everything on that list.  I have a big stack of notebooks that are empty cause the teacher didn't give us a use for them.

My parents had to buy all of my school supplies and pay tuition.  The parents should be involved in their child's education.  The teachers don't get paid enough to buy supplies for everyone in their class.  Here in New Mexico it's the parent's responsibility to get the supplies, but we have school supply drives to help out the low income families.  We have a lottery too, but that goes to scholarships.  :star:
