Undecided Major
« on: August 12, 2013, 04:05:40 pm »

I really have no idea what I'm planning on majoring in..

It makes me nervous because all my other friends know and not knowing just
plays with my schedule...

Are there and suggestions on majors?

In most cases it pretty much does not matter for the first 2 years (academic years). Business Admin, History, English, Pol. Sci. and a vast majority of other degree granting majors share the same basic course requirements. Those that you must complete prior to taking courses that are actually part of the degree field. The exceptions would be majors that are technical and science ones. Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Biology. and the like.

So, if you are just entering college, take the basic curriculum for a couple of years, you have plenty of time to decide before you MUST declare a major. What are 'hot' degrees today might not be all that desirable by the time you actually have to choose!

Unless you are going into a specialized field like medicine truth be told it really doesn't matter what your degree is in.  Most employers just want to see you have a degree in anything doesn't matter what.  I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up (hell I still don't) I just picked my major because it was the second popular one at my school. I've never actually worked in the field my degree is in.  You will find a lot of people in that situation.  Just take your prereqs for now and explore different fields of study to see if any interest you.

Check this out it's a test helps you decide your interests to see what career you might be interested in.

Thank you both.

I've been stressing about it like crazy -_____-

And being surrounded by all those kids who "know" what they want to be..

It's just so nerve wracking.

A lot of the people who "know" what they want to be will end up switching their majors in the first year or two. Happens all the time.

Don't think too much of major cuz it can cause you nothing when it'll come at the end. This was happen
to me cuz I saw everything kind of interesting and I couldn't pick one that interest me and I end up
laying around for while and put myself out in the workforce and I actually came to where I wanted to
put myself at in a medical field and it is fun for me but don't know for others.
So you might need to give yourself a little break and then soon you'll find it that suited you...
