Congress currently has a 17% approval rating. This is the lowest it has been in the history of our country. The other aspect that republican officials have walked out of congress in the past shows that they have the mentality of children. So no, they are not doing a good job at all. When it gets to the point where it's a rarity that our political officials pass a bill, our gov't has failed. These people are supposed to be making hard decisions and doing what's best for the country. All this current congress does is remain in limbo about everything. Anyone of them who fits within the above should be fired on the spot and replaced.

My area was made up of manufacturing jobs, specifically garment and shoe manufacturing. Slowly, through NAFTA and other trade agreements, all have gone down the tubes. We have 1 garment factory left and they are floundering.

What are our options here? Fast food. That's it. A couple motels and other restaurants, too, but if you want a real good job you have to travel 50-100 miles for one.

The government has decided to "protect" us from ourselves by all the rules and regulations. Instead, they are killing this country. The only people that have good benefits and good jobs are now WITHIN the government (and I don't mean politicians).

As for the politicians, they start out with the  naive idea that they can change Washington, but wind up being on the take just like the oldsters. The corruption is widespread, as are the scandals. Obama ran his first campaign on "Hope and Change." Well, we got the change, but the hope has gone down the drain.

We need change in 2014 AND 2016 and I have started researching those candidates already. Even though 2016 doesn't have any specific candidates from either party yet, I'm focusing on those that "might" run. I'm not waiting until the very end to do it because then the info will be whitewashed on all of them.

So, What do you all think of our government? Are they doing there best or could they do better or should they just put on the old game show weakest link so you can hear that lady say goodbye to them all & just plain replaced(Your The Weakest Link Goodbye)?

Personally, I think a small army of genetically altered super smart chimpanzee's could do a better job. Can't go anywhere but up at this but point but that's my opinion

I believe you may have HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD with your last sentence!!!!!

Yes no do overs for our Government...get rid of every single one of them and start fresh...a chimp may not be able to do the job but I think the majority of just your average Joe's could...I honestly believe our Government doesn't care about the rest of us...they have peace of mind, job security, good pay, benefits, Lord knows more time off than they should have...wish it was as easy as the weakest link and saying goodbye!!

I guess I would have two points to make about the dysfunctional government: 1) The filibuster and 2) 40 attempts to Repeal Obamacare. I would think after the 39th time, Republicans could get the point. lol. Seriously, we are a very polarized nation and I think we could function better if we could meet in the middle. But the attitude that each side has is deplorable. Certainly not role models for our children.

Sure they are doing a good job.  A good job of taking this country straight to the toilet.  Everyone of them needs to be replaced.

We (the voting public) listen to their promises and votes them in, and end up screwed in the end.  As far as my opinion goes, Boehner and Ryan can go home.  Neither one of them is good and, if I hear Boehner say anything else, I will *bleep* scream my head off.  Of course the Government is broke, because they are paying these people who do not have the American interest at heart.  Obama cannot do his job because Boehner is busy complaining about this and that. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

I believe the majority need to be replaced.  There should be a time limit on the number of years each can serve as it is with the president.  I also think they do not deserve to be paid a salary with benefits for the rest of their lives just for being an elected official in Washington, D.C.  They should have to live on Social Security and Medicare like the majority of the rest of the nation when they get old if they haven't saved enough money on their own.  Most of the elected officials in Washington, D.C. are independently wealthy before they ever get into office and then they milk the nation in perks.
Have a wonderful day!

The government is always a interesting topic, but depending on whether you are afro-american or white will determine how you answer this question. The government is doing what it has been doing for the last 200 years, making sure that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

I want to give people credit for trying to do their best.  We can always find something to whine and complain about; however, as an individual I choose to focus on the positive.  Life is good for me and I'm grateful for everyone who is making an effort.

Have a great day!

Ay is with the Tea pa total realignment of the the political parties in control, A party with enough clout and money to actually get these career politicians out of office. The Libertarian party in close relationship with the Tea party is a good start
