HE TASERED A 72YR OLD WOMAN!
« on: June 10, 2009, 06:54:16 am »
:angry7: So I'm watching CNN last night and I see a police officer TASER a 72-year old woman! She was refusing to accept a ticket from him and she was being "difficult"...she even said "I didn't do nothing and I'm going home!" (lol)  Then the officer (after telling her to "come on now mam..." several times) tasered the old woman!  She fell to the ground, groaning, saying "ooowww, owwww ...that hurt me." Now, I agree...she was being difficult to say the least....but DAMN! A taser?  That old woman could have had a heart attack!  OMG!  He could have restrained her without any difficulty at all!  He looked like he was in pretty good shape!  What is this world coming to when we taser our senior citizens because they refuse a ticket? :BangHead: Did he really feel that she was a danger to him? :sad1: Was the situation that extreme? Maybe he was having a bad night? All I know is, I don't want my mom to meet up with that officer on the road in traffic violation situation.

I saw the incident with the elderly lady.  I feel like in that situation the officer was wrong.  However, in some situations, it may be necessary for the police to use a taser on an elderly person.  For example, if the elderly person has a knife or some type of weapon and after being warned to put it down, refuses to do so.  The police officer has every right to protect or defend himself/herself in this situation.  When people say "elderly person" we automatically think of a weak or feeble person.  This is not always true.  Some elderly people are in better shape than someone much younger.

He could have restrained her without any difficulty at all!  He looked like he was in pretty good shape!

I agree.  The officer could have restrained her without using the taser.

The police officer who tasered the 72 year old woman should be ashamed of himself.  If she had pulled a gun on him, that's one reason, but because she was being just a little lippy he tasered this woman.  I wonder how he would feel if someone did that to his mother or an elderly relative in his family.

He was young and big enough to handle this woman-no excuse.

What if she suffer some major physical ailment after the tasering?

There has to be a limit somewhere. :bs:

Sorry if this initially does not sound sympathetic... but the comment about how she could have had a heart attack - that's just silly. Why? When it comes to tasers, any person of any age could suffer a heart attack from those things.

Beeyyooondd that. The officer was in the wrong and deserves to be tasered in return.

She is LUCKY that's all she got, I live near Los Angeles and here they (police) shoot people for less than what she did.

I think that the police are getting a little taser happy.  Instead of trying to use force they are getting lazy, and now it is becoming a problem.  You hear more and more stories about people getting killed by these tasers.  I think that this concept needs to be rethunk.

I disagree she showed she had no intention what so ever that she ever intended to cooperate. She is an ornery old hag that chose to act like a 2 year old with a cop. That is a big no no no matter what the age.
