watch him when you bring him back inside, as soon as he begins this behavior scold him and immediately take him back outside and stay there until he takes care of the matter while outside. If you have never had him house broken before, he should learn this pretty fast, not many forced trips back out will be needed.

However, if he is already housebroken and this is a 'new' behavior, it could be something influence him, like the scent of another animal in the house, (dominance thing). He might even be ill, but that is the least likely cause, but one you might keep an eye out for.

Actually last week my "little" mastiff was going in the house (talk about a huge mess!)... Luckily she was going in the kitchen where there is tile, so it wasn't too difficult to clean up. I'm almost positive the reason why she started doing this was because she was sick... She wasn't eating as much as normal and when she did, she often threw up her meal. The poop was also very soupy. And her eyes had a bunch of goop around them.  :P  :-\  I was ready to take her to the vet on Friday, but when I came home her food bowl was empty, no new surprises, and she seemed much more active (more like herself). And after watching her all weekend, I've concluded that her sickness has run its course.

Different things work with different dogs. You have to let them know that using the house as their potty is not acceptable. I'm not saying beat your dog, but you need to punish them and be firm. Use positive reinforcement when they do their business outside and be patient with your dog. They don't all learn as easily as others. Maybe you could try using a puppy pad or something like that to help them to at least relieve themselves in more acceptable place. Good luck!

Is your dog a puppy and just has not been house broker yet, or is it a full grown doggie that knows better and has relapsed into bad behavior? Providing that info should get you some more appropriate responses.

NO! thank God! My dog we take him out in the mornings and in the evenings. The only time he has used the potty in the house is when he is sick. Not to much of thoughs day though.  :D

Nothing.  Deal with it.  My dog does the same thing.  He is a German Shepherd.  He stays outside mostly (by his choice) but if he is inside and needs to poop or pee - he does.   :BangHead:

You are obviously NOT good with animals ! HAHAHAHA!

Your doggie friend is soiling your house and you are doing nothing about it? Mercy!! Poor poochie pup is being seriously deprived of training! You would have your children go without potty training? Please!!

YIKES!

Occassionally our little dog will have an accident in the house but thankfully not too often.  He's really more likely to throw up than poop or pee.  He gets nervous when we leave and sometimes I think thats what makes him throw up.  He only does any of it in our game room where there is no carpet and I'm glad of that!  He just turned 13 years old in June so I don't fuss at him a whole lot cause when he does something I'm thinking he probably can't help it.  He was trained by our youngest daughter when she first got him from the pound as a little puppy and has always been very well behaved and a great part of the family!

If your pet is not part of the family, do them a favor and find them a new home! :)  At 13 pup is probably having 'old age' issues, and there is not really much to be done with the behavior issues, it is not a matter of choice most likely, especially if they have been well behaved before!

Absolutely, as long as I leave the seat down she jumps right up there and does her job. Now I just need to figure out how to teach her to flush it.
