Texting definitely. When I get a text message, I can respond to it when I have time. And people tend to expect that too. However when I get a phone call, I feel a little more obligated to answer it (or Ignore the call, which feels rude). This is esp. true since my outside job doesn't allow personal calls or unsanctioned cell phone use while at work, and it seems like some of my friends (esp. those that don't have a regular job or are unemployed) don't seem to get that I cannot always answer them right away. I once had a person call me mid-morning (which I had to Ignore since I was in the middle of a meeting), a 2nd time mid-afternoon, and a final time just as I was walking out the door of my job. By the time I answered that 3rd time, this person was really pissed that I wasn't answering my phone, even after I tried to explain that I was working at the time. Had she texted me instead I could have easily answered during lunch or even a quick reply after the meeting in the morning finished; all she wanted to know was if I was running the karaoke show later that night  

I also hate getting a phone call while I'm driving, esp. considering that I can't easily ignore the call without looking at my phone (talk about distracted driving -- thus I'm not able to ignore the call). Again, when I receive a text while driving I can more easily wait until I've arrived at my location before answering.

If I am home I will use my land line to call people. I will text if I know they can't answer the phone however.  But if i am out I will always text cause i just dont' want to be talking on the phone,,,,  i may miss something lol

I grew up talking not texting.  Unfortunately technology has made many in our society a bunch of mindless automatons.

If the person is not busy, I'll rather talk, otherwise I'll text if they're busy.

It depends upon the situation. Although I would rather talk than text.

It depends on the person, conversation, and what I'm doing at the time.

If it's someone I really like, I'm comfortable with either texting or talking.
If I don't care for the person much I'd rather text because then I can ignore it.

If it's a serious conversation I'd rather have it in person (or over the phone if face to face isn't possible).
If it's just a "Hey, what's up?" then texting works.

If I'm free, I'll chat.
If I'm a little busy, I'll text.

I don't text at all!! I guess I come from the older generation and believe that texting is very impersonal! I tell my kids and Grand kids to not even text me or my wife because we will not text back. I know it is the new thing or "new age" or whatever, I just personally think if you don't have the time to talk to someone one on one, it is not worth it!! This is just my opinion. Most of my generation lived without even cell phones for much of our lives, although I have a cell phone I try not to use it but, for emergencies only. I still have a landline in my house, which is very rare these days. And I was in the Telecommunications field for about 35 years.

oh i would rather talk to my family, friends and loved ones. Even if it is just for a few mintues. There are some things i would much rather say then text, I like to chat on facebook, but there again some things are better left to the phone.

I've never been a phone person.  I don't like to sit and talk on the phone so I prefer to text.

I still use both, mostly texting to most people. But i always talk to my parents!
