Bad Luck??
« on: July 20, 2013, 11:05:32 pm »
Recently it was late and my baby was out of formula and unfortunately I don't really have enough breast milk for her. So I decided, at midnight, to go to the store about a mile away, my boyfriend offered to go but I didn't let him because I know he didn't really want to. So I drove there ran through the store and made it out in record time! I drove to the end of the parking lot and preceded to put on my seat belt I pulled out and was immediately followed by a cop. I decided ok I'm not doing anything wrong I'll just be on my way. I get to one of like three lights on my way home and the cop turns his lights on. The officer tells me he pulled me over because I didn't have a license plate on the front of my car, which of course I was meaning to put on but I needed the screws. He then runs my plates for 20 mins while I have a starving baby at home and then tells me I'm good to go but first he had to right me a ticket for putting on my seat belt after driving through a parking lot! I don't have a lot of money I can barely get by with paying my bills but I scrounge every last dollar I have to pay this $100 ticket. About a week later I drove to work and my car started sounding terrible so I took it to a shop and they said the whole bottom of my car rusted and that it'd be about $600 to fix. Which I obviously can't afford so I continued to drive my loud beat up car. Then days after that I got a letter in the mail stating that my insurance lapsed because I was behind on my payments and that I was not covered when I got pulled over therefore my license is now suspended until I pay them a bunch of money. THEN, I went grocery shopping shortly after getting paid and spent about $300 dollars to stock up because I also had a cold and I wanted to be sure to not have to go to the store not feeling well anymore. I came home started making dinner and burned my entire arm and to make matters worse at about 1 in the morning a couple days later we discovered our refrigerator was broke and all that food was ruined!!!!  :sad1: Does anyone have bad luck like this or is it just me?

I'd say getting laid off twice in the past year and nearly becoming homeless both times is pretty bad luck.

Did you not have home owners insurance?  Would it not cover anything?

I feel real bad for you. I do hope your luck changes for the better. I have bad luck myself. It does seem like when one thing goes wrong, a bunch of things go wrong. I have had my share of incidents in a row like that.

I never wanted to say it because I felt like it was just me feeling sorry for myself, but recently I quit my job of six years and replaced it with three WAH jobs.  These are all very stable legit companies.  Companies that have been around for years with thousands of employees.  My plan was to work about 18 hours a day.  Finally get ahead, pay off all my bills, finally be able to afford a vacation and a better life for me and my son.  Out of the three jobs one fell through that was full-time.  One lost the client that I was supposed to be working for and the other one over hired and right now there is not enough work for everyone.  On top of that, two of the companies screwed up my direct deposit and my pay for both of them were over a week late paying me with the fault being on their end.  How likely is it that two of them would screw it up!  I had to almost get nasty with them to finally get my pay because neither HR dept seemed concerned, so it has kind of spoiled my feelings about working for them.

So now basically after working all my life since I was 16 and taking on three jobs I am unemployed for the first time in my life and barely hanging on.  I have a job if I want it but it doesn't start til September.  I have two interviews tomorrow.  Unemployment keeps saying that they have not decided if I am eligible although I applied two weeks ago.  They keep making me drive to the next town over and prove that I am applying for work yet they may not ever approve me.  It takes gas money I don't have and time away from applying for jobs to keep driving there.

I told my sister that I always must make bad decisions because I always seem to find myself in impossible situations.  She told me that she feels that I never seem to get any breaks and that it isn't anything I am making bad decisions about.

I always felt I had bad luck, but never wanted to say it because I thought it was kind of like maybe just seemed like it to me.  She just seemed to confirm that from where she sits it does seem like I have more than my fair share.  I finally know now that it isn't just me that sees it that way.

no unfortunately the insurance I had at that time didn't cover the loss about 5 years after that we needed to get a new roof cause of the weather and they wouldn't help with that either so I went and got different insurance

Add one more thing to your list of bad luck - a boyfriend who doesn't want to help out.

I know what you went through. Thank God you made it home. Some people would not be so lucky.
