do you let other people borrow your books?
do you lend out the books you have on your bookshelves?

The only way I will loan out my books now is if I really know the person. I have loaned out to many and never got them back. Now though I have started writing in the inside cover of the book :THIS BOOK BELONGS TO.... specially on the ones I really want to keep and know will read again and again. It has cut down on the books not returned to me. Of course I don't do that with my 18 year old or my mom.

Most of the books I read come from a community library (not a government one) so I return them when I am done.  And if I have one I donate it to the library when I am finished with it.  I love sharing books -

I lent out a book by T. D. Jakes and never got it back.  It has been so long I have actually forgotten the title.  I loaned a book to my daughter, and never got it back either.  I have books that are put up, for a reason.  I don't lend out books because people tend to forget they borrowed the book from you.

I've loaned books out a lot but only to people that I know I can trust to return them. Some people will always make sure you get them back others have no respect for anyones things and you know they will never return anything.

I don't have a lot of books and no one has ever asked to borrow any of my books.  I hardly ever buy books I always get them from the library for free.

Yes! I think it not a big deal to share your books to others.  I think it's a good idea and if whoever didn't return it, I'll not let them borrow again, because no more books to share.

I used to, but I won't any more.  I lost an autographed copy of a book and the first volume of a trilogy.  I thought both borrower's were reliable, but...   :sad1:

I use to lent out books in the past, but I never had a very comprehensive library. The reason stop asking me is the popularity of ebooks whereby people use this instead of share them.

I see lending my books like lending anything else I own.  It would all depend on the person wanting to borrow them.  I would loan them to some people and I wouldn't loan them to other people.

I don't have enough room for all my books, so I like giving away/loaning books to others.  That way I don't have to find room for it!  I am just getting into ebooks, though.  It's a hard transition from the paper books, but I am really liking how many books I can download to read on my computer or smartphone.  I have friends who love to trade their ebooks with each other.
