Tips to selling on Ebay?

I'm actually selling jewelry too and my profits are going towards helping Moore, Oklahoma schools get back up and running after the May tornadoes.

I make jewelry, then I wear it around like my own advertisement. Plus, I've sold to my friends and family, who wear their pieces and advertise for me too!

Be honest an upfront with your customers, hiding an imperfection because you want a higher price will come back to bite you most of the time.

Take the time to learn careful packaging.

When I buy from ebay I will always buy from the customer with a better picture and description, they are important and show something about who is selling it.

I find it pretty hard to sell things "for profit" on eBay. Pretty much the only things I sell are used clothes... and even that I don't get much for it but when there are free listing options I will sell stuff for a few bucks and it is better than trying to do a garage sale or something. Sometimes you get people that are really picky, the best you can do is have good pictures and be as accurate as you can in your listings.

Sell quality products and don't screw people over.  Do your best to build a quality rating and that will lead to great things.  Without a good reputation it can be extremely hard...

I have bought a lot on Ebay (in fact it is my first place I got to when looking for something) across many categories.  I have sold a decent bit, mostly saddles.  Free shipping is not that big a deal because either way the cost IS there (or it needs to be).  What "free shipping" does get you is nobody haggling about shipping costs/rates.  The most important thing is good quality pictures with lots of details. You can have up to 12 pictures free in a listing (it used to be 1 free pic and you had to pay for additional!).  Write a detail description.  Listing were people write one line just dont get the same attention.  Look at some listings which ones catch your eye and make you want to read and learn more and which ones do you pass over.  The other thing I found is sometimes I have to list the item a while before the right person comes along (this is where the free listings are a god-send).  Ebay and PayPal have good measures in place just know your items and you will become addicted to it!
