If i could change one thing in the world...
« on: July 07, 2013, 06:28:13 pm »

I would change the way people see other ethnicities and races.

My boyfriend and I are now lacking in things such as being able to hold each
others hand, or hug each other.

Why?

Our parents are strict. He's Punjabi and i am Hmong. The way our parents see it, it's over exaggerated.
He is just like me, my parents, my family. A person. Human being.

His parents are strict about him dating, but now my being hmong would play an even greater factor.
He's traditional and cares for his family and doesn't want to upset them.
I understand that, so as much as I hate the idea of never being able to do things couples do again,

I have to respect his decisions and his values. Im not saying i'm not valuable to him, but if he had to choose i want
him to choose his family because he's the only one who will make something happen for his family. He is the backbone
and the light, and I can't take him away even as selfish as I am.

So really if there is one thing I can change, it would be our view of others..
so maybe, just maybe our chances would be greater.

If I could change anything, i think i would change man's ability to travel to lands other than his own. That would rule out a lot of wars (but not all), and introducing nonnative illnesses, species, etc. into other lands.

I would change the emphasis on monetary value.
Everyone should have food and shelter - without having it cost so much.

If I could change the world, I would have everyone love each other.  If we all loved each other, we would no longer have wars, there would be no poor because we would take care of each other, and there would be no killings.  What a wonderful place that would be!

If I could change one thing it would be to have everyone treated equally.  It should not matter if you are gay or straight, man or woman, white or black or any color.  It should not matter if you believe in God or not, we are all people, why can't we just get along?

I would change the way people are portrayed in each other's eyes.  Today, it is scary when you don't know a nice guy from an axe murderer.  I feel for your situation.  The last time I heard of something similar, my sister was in that kind of situation.  She was 28 and her husband to-be was 27.  He was the youngest of 10 children, mentally slow, and described my sister as "looking like a wet cat" the first time he saw her.  When he saw her again, she was just the right size.  Yet, I don't have the resiliency she has.  They were all Jehovah's Witnesses.  She went to his parents' house for dinner, they went for a ride, and she described that ride as strange in that one of the family members sat between him and her.  Even after they got married, she said the experience was strange in that his father walked in the bedroom where they were having relations and told him to get up and get ready to go to work.  She said that was enough for her, and they found an apartment and moved.  You poor child, there is no way I could be in a situation like that; not being able to touch or kiss my fellow would do it for me.  I take it you are not 18 yet, and do the same rules apply at 21?  Good luck, my dear. ??? :o ???
