Laid off because Job Disappeared
« on: July 05, 2013, 11:43:40 pm »
Have you ever been laid off a job because the job just disappeared?  I went through a reorganization where a whole division disappared back in the early 90's and it just appears to me that it is becoming more and more common.

Not me personally, but many, many friends. When I got laid off, it was because the work of my entire department got shifted overseas.

The company that was under contract with the company I was working for decided that our company was not producing to standards. One hundred and ten people were let go, including myself.  I was able to collect unemployment within two weeks.

Only 47% of the American people now have full-time jobs.  It's only going to get worse.

I am so sorry it must be hard for you and your family?  This is what I have be talking about there is no help for the middle class or just on the verge of being homeless.  am poor and we get a little help with our rent and food and of course medical but the co-pays we spend a month for doctors and prescriptions is close to a hundred dollars and really that's good but we only have $710 a month for two people so it's ruff.  I totally understand how you feel.  Sometimes I feel if I could just make $300 a month we could do something once a month just the two of us.  I am disabled and get In-Home Care which is ironic because that is what I did for a living but hurt myself and 10years latter I couldn't work anymore and I have to deal with chronic pain and muscle spasms along with a bunch of other medical problems.
