The thing is he highlighted information that has been accessible for a decade now. The only good thing about it is he spawned a lot of attention to the information that very few knew existed. What he did was wrong in the governments eyes, but he has remained vigilant and showed people the truth about our government-- we now have concrete proof that it's corrupted officials do not support what they're elected to support and maintain. I'm more curious as to what's going to happen now. Is it all going to blow over? Is he going to turn up dead because anyone can be labelled a terrorist in this country now? Will a civil war break out? Time will tell.

Just make sure to not vote for anyone who supports such breaches of basic freedoms, people. Do your homework plz!

I don't know if he is a traitor or not.  I am reserving judgement until I know more, but I would have more faith in him if he made his announcement and the stayed her to let everything play out instead of paling up with all the communist governments.  Makes me believe that he really wanted to help them.

As Falconer said, the information has been out there for decades.  What bothers me is that our government is charging him with "espionage."  He didn't hand over that information to a FOREIGN nation to be used against the U.S.  He DID put that information out there for THE PEOPLE of the U.S. to make it known to us what CROOKED, CONNIVING, LYING people are running our government and that their intent is to make US (WE, THE PEOPLE) look like the TERRORISTS.  We already know that our government is against anyone who lives by the key words "patriot," "tea party," "military," "oathkeeper," and as far as our government is concerned it IS the American people who are the terrorists.  Unfortunately, should push come to shove within our country, even those who agree with the Obama administration are in for a big surprise.  You're no safer than the rest of us are.  Now would be a good time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Totally in agreement. What worries me is nobody leading a march against such corruption. I see a lot of mad people, but I see no way of breaking such corruption down aside from voting (more potentially corrupt officials into office). I will also say that this isn't Obama's fault primarily. Such privacy-oriented problems stem from decades of 'freedom-errosion' by our gov't.

It also scares the heck out of me that the older generations seem to be fine with the gov't listening in on citizen's privacy. I've heard a few people tell me they don't mind it.

I do not believe that he is a traitor. I feel that Snowden is innocent. All he ever did was he gathered evidence what the National Security Agency was doing wrong that they were not supposed to be doing. He never gave secret information to any foreign countries that will be used against the US. He only gave it to the journalists at Washington Post US newspaper located in Washington DC and the UK newspaper The Guardian to get them published to let US citizens know what the federal government is doing is not right. He did it just to tell them the truth and break the silence that the US government refuses to speak out. What he did may or may not have broken the law. But he is not a spy. He is a whistle-blower. Snowden knew what was going to happen before he leaked the information. Like the ACLU said, if the US government was not going to file espionage or other criminal charges against him, he would not have fled the US in the first place. But he knew it was going to happen that's why he left before he broke the silence to tell the truth. Now because of this, he'll never comeback to the US since the justice systems is so broken he will not be able to get a fair trial unless he gets a very excellent lawyer that will defend him and keep him out of prison for the crimes he did not commit.

I think that the United States Citizens have been enlightened.  Certainly one could probably uncover what clandestine operations are going on but the large percentage of people are only concerned with how they are going to pay their taxes, bills, rent/mortgage, and still have enough money left over to feed their families.  Finding this information on your own, with any kind of credibility, would have been like searching for a needle in a haystack and would have required motivation to think after working one's life away. I think that there is more that we haven't heard yet because everyone seems hell-bent on getting him back to the United States.

Well, the kid is without a country and isolated from anyone he knows. I hope it was worth it ti him, because his life will never be the same. I don't know if he was a traitor or if the gov just did not want us to know their business. I don't think the people should know everything, because we wouldn't have security then. Some things are better off left unknown. It is better for our personal lives that we just don't know all that goes n behind closed doors.  I certainly would not want someone coming after me or my family for the information I had on them.   thanks for your insight. As I watch the most recent info on Snowden I realize Putin is going to milk this thing as far as possible, eventually he will turn Snowden over, I just hope Snowden`s family members can stay alive in the meantime. Understanding that this guy walked away from a quarter million bucks a year to step up and let the people  know tells me he found things I don`t think are being exposed yet. He might be waiting for this administration to unravel with all the unlawful acts it`s committing, sadly there are too many career politicians that already knew these things for there to be any real change any time soon.
