My husband has it and is on oxygen 24-7 now. He struggles everyday to just breath. The humidity is really hard on him. There are weeks when he can not even go outside. It is hard for me the caregiver to understand how it can be so devastating. Good Luck with your fight!

Yes, I have COPD and have had it for about three years.  I was in the hospital for close to two weeks.  I left on oxygen 24/7.  I went to pulmonary therapy for 16 weeks, and I'm now off oxygen, but still have to take my meds every day and will have to for life.

There are many days I cannot enjoy being outside.  I cannot breathe on hot days, or also on very cold days.  In the summer I miss many things due to my illness.

I have no one to blame but myself for this.  I started smoking at 16, to be cool like my friends.  I did not know the consequences of smoking then.  I quit 20 years ago, but the damage was done.  When I see kids smoking now, I want so much to tell them my story, but don't because I know they won't listen, after all, kids know everything there is to know.  After all, when I was 16, I knew everything! :sad1:

My sister's husband had COPD.  He refused to have surgery because he was a Jehovah's Witness; they do not deal with blood or blood products.  He finally succumbed to the disease in March 2005, when he was 39.  You are in my prayers and good luck with your fight.
