Silk Shirts
« on: June 02, 2013, 08:00:42 am »
Last year a bought a collection of silk shirts and am starting to notice of them rip pretty easily if I make any suddent or awkward movement while wearing them.

Anyone have any feedback on silk shirts and this problem?

Well, silk is a delicate fabric but, even so, it shouldn't rip that easily.  Maybe the fabric itself is just getting more fragile with time, or, maybe the shirts have shrunk a little.  Either way, sorry you're having trouble.

sorry you're having trouble with them.  perhaps its the way you're washing them.  do you wash in a machine or take them to the dry cleaners?

I wash them in a machine with the rest of my clothes.  I guess I bought them 2 years ago, but I bought 4 and now 2 have already ripped on me and I don't even wear them that often ... really on a warm summer days.

Yeah, silk is very fragile; I've had some before. There are cheap silk and there are more better silk. It depends on the kind of silk you got. The thicker silk is more better. I've made silk skirts before and I've notice the thinner silk rips very easy and the thicker one are more durable and last longer. The thin silk you have to wash by hand or on delicate. The thicker one you can wash and dry it. Good luck! :D
