Don't think so. She just cooked, we just ate it. We knew what we  were having on Friday though,  Hot dogs and chili, same thing  every week. Daddy got paid on Thursday nights so mama and daddy went to the store on Friday so mama did not cook a big meal on Friday.

I don't remember Mom telling us unless we asked which wasn't often. My husband asks me every day what we are having for supper so he must have asked as a kid, too.

My husband also asks me every day What are we having for supper? Sometimes I say whatever you want to fix. When it's just the two of us home I don't see the need to cook when we can eat a sandwich or microwave something

No-but we had certain nights-Tuesdays were steak nights, Fridays were pizza nights.

My dad actually did most of the cooking, but when my mom cooked, it was always a treat. They are both excellent cooks.

My mom did that too. I hated Thursdays because it was meatloaf night.

My mother was a phenomenal cook; her relationship with me wasn't that great.  She was slow cooking it, but when it was done, it was good, and that was all that really mattered.  I learned to cook at 9 years old.  I didn't ask her what she fixed for dinner.  My grandmother, on the other hand, was predictable.  I was raised by her and mostly we had blackeyed peas; when she fixed collard greens, which weren't her favorite, but mine, that was a delicacy.  Her favorite greens were turnips; I was not a fan of those.  I loved my grandmother, but I would be lying through my teeth if I said she was a good cook; actually she wasn't.

did your mom tell you what you were having for dinner when you were a child?

No she really didn't. I am a much better cook then she is though.

My mother and grandmother were both great cooks.  My grandmother lived with us and did most of the cooking.  I think that's why I DIDN'T learn to cook.  I had no ambition to cook, but I love good food.  Now it's a good thing that my husband cooks.

My mom is a pretty good cook but my dad is actually the person who does most of the cooking for the family.

My mom cooked every night.  She told us if we asked!
