No line bifocals
« on: June 01, 2013, 04:25:43 am »
I just got my new glasses 2 days ago. the prescription is a bit stronger than my last pair of glasses. however they seem to be a bit distorted. I mentioned this to the woman where I purchased and she said to wait about a week and see if sight gets better.......has anyone else have this problem with new glasses?.........if yes, what did you do?...did it get better in time?

Is this your first pair of no line bifocals?

If so, then, yes they do take a little bit of time to get used to.

You have to "point your nose" in the direction of what you want to see clearly.  For me, this means my husband and I can't share a hymnal easily anymore because the peripheral vision isn't clean when my eyes are turned toward the side.

Straight on, Perfect vision.

Right...you have to adjust yourself to how you look through them. However, if not better it's very important you go back to doctor's.

Yes I have. It is still easier to read if i taken of my glasses and read it up close. My next exam I am going back to single vision glasses.
I was lying in bed the other night, looking up at the stars, and thinking, "Where in the heck is my roof?"

I have always worn no-line bifocals and never had any problems with them.  Possibly the prescription is too strong or they could have made a mistake.  But I would wear the glasses for while to adapt to the difference in prescriptions.  But if you are getting headaches, I would take them back to the doctor.

Every since I started to need bifocals, I started right off with transitions (ie no line).  I actually am glad that I made that choice as I adjusted to the
no line type very easily.  However, a few years ago, I developed the need for trifocals.  However, I decided to purchase a separate pair of glasses for computer monitor type reading which are also transitions with the closeup as the second correction.  I use the other pair for driving and general walking around.

I am not familiar with no line bifocals.  If they were regular bifocals then I wouldn't think it would help to wait.  But with this no line type of bifocals I just don't know so I would say wait a few days just to find out.  I would think you should have been warned though if this was going to be an issue.
