I was going to say the same thing the poster above said.  I used to do the same thing with yarn hair and even used dark yarns to do beards, too. 

You are so right.  It is so sad that today's kids don't enjoy simple imagination play the way we did.  I guess today is the day when the SIMS is the electronic Barbie doll house and Need For Speed is Hot Wheels.

I really did not see the point in making them when I was a kid, it felt more like punishment when other kids bag puppets looks better then yours or the other person and they start laughing at it.
