Do you have a lot of crime in your area, or are you experiencing new crime?
We used to have a pretty quiet neighborhood, but lately there have been some incidents.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and, where I live, it's pretty safe.  Unfortunately (for both me and the city), I live next to Oakland, which has a high crime and homicide rate.  So I don't expect much safety and have come to accept that as part of the cost for living where I do.  I'm right now on vacation in Irvine, California and, where I am, it is very safe.  I'm staying with friends and I don't think I've ever heard them talk about crime or a break-in happening on their street for many years.  It's a blessing to be in such a safe, calm, and quiet place.  Of course, I wouldn't go out of my way to make it easy for someone to take something of mine here in Irvine.  I grew up not too far from Irvine and I remember the days when things were much safer, all the way around.

Crime affects everybody. It do not matter where you live. Protect yourself because help may not be available when you need it.

Overall I think the amount of crime in the neighborhood here has dropped a little since they cleaned up a low income housing apartment by closing it.  Course that means they just moved the problem onto somebody else.   :dontknow:

For the most part in many of the areas that I frequently visit, work or live in, crime is definitely present.  But lately there has been a rash of crimes in areas
where it is very rare to have such crimes as this - a hostage situation in El Segundo happened a few weeks ago.  But being in California, where I live, there has been a rash of fires happening already.

I use to think, my section of the neighborhood was safe but in 2010; a yr after my Husband's death my home was broken into, nothing really of value but me & husband's 2007 x-mas gift from us to us a 37' flat screen tv w/the works was gone! :crybaby2: I felt violated when I saw the mess in my house & again violated when the cops came to gather evidence. Cops here are not exactly helpful & I feel threaten by them & can't trust them. :bs: All they're really good at is giving people tickets at the end of the month to make their quota. Ya, good at pulling you over for running over a red light. Ya, like I would be stupid enough to run a red light when this cop car is on the other side on the left turn lane! There's a running joke, when you drive in2 my neighborhood, you see all around signs of Neighborhood Crime Watch,Ya, your neighbors will watch as the criminals rob your house like a live version of criminal intent! :bootyshake:LOl!

Only when we get broken into at my business, which hasn't happened in a while, otherwise this is a peaceful area.

My neighbor hood is pretty quiet, and I think that crime is low here is because we have a lot of dogs :dog: who tend to bark at anyone ( MOSTLY AT NIGHT). Plus we are very close to Fort Hood, so we have a lot of military aroud.

Since I live in a rural area of the city, its not too bad.  But its still up in the city closest to where I live.

There is quite a bit of crime where I live. Nearly every night I work there are ambulances and fire trucks racing down the street. There is always something on the news or in the paper about someone getting shot, stabbed, or robbed. I would like to move to a smaller quieter town,  but my husband would never go for it.

Crime is everywhere.  You just have to try and be as careful as you can for you and your families safety.   Several members of our family worked for the same company a few years ago, and our identities were stolen by a person who had worked there for years in accounting.  They traced back where for years she had been skimming of money, changing names on checks, etc.  It was a small company and she knew everyone of the people who she stole from.   She left and went to Mexico.  She came back a few years later, and 2 years after that she was hit by a hit and run driver.  We are think she did the same thing to another company, who had people that were not putting up with her thievery.   This business was in a very upscale area of town.

We had little or no crime in Forney, TX when we moved her in Nov. but since then there have been three murders (by the same person they think), so, it seems like no place is safe...
