Well, u said if not why and since I fully believe it should be legalized don't have any reasons why not but I certainly have several reasons why I think it should.  Its a natural substance that was a part of creation, it is such a benefit to many health issues, it was criminalized for a stupid reason, etc.

I am so glad that someone mentioned the racism behind the current status of marijuana.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  It is deeply offensive to me, as a human being, that we made this plant illegal due to race relations.  And then published propaganda to bolster the law.  That is an aspect to marijuana history that not many people know about.  Opium was another drug that was made illegal, in part due to race relations.  Granted, people can still obtain opium-based medications without fear of being sent to jail.  As a matter of fact, there is a severe addiction problem within the United States regarding opium-based medications.  But no one is screaming for those drugs to be made illegal.  No one.  No one talks about the deaths caused by opium-based medications.  But we sure do blather on about how dangerous marijuana is.

Thank you for this post.

Hey, no problem. Just preaching the truths!

One thing people never seem to address when they advocate legalizing pot is the addition to the already too big problem of DWI. Why do you want to add more stoned drivers to the mix? Even if driving under the influence of pot isn't illegal, it's still dangerous to everyone else on the road.

Then manage the laws to parallel that of drunk driving. Problem solved. You're going to get idiots on the road either way. Besides, most pot smokers just relax at home with the substance.

I am so glad that this message is posted.  Thank you for actually being a sound mind in this debate. Many people just remember that stupid movie that we were all shown in the 70's that shows kids smoking once and go out of their minds.  Thank you for providing facts about the racism around this subject and I hope that everyone will take a minute and think before they post stuff that isn't true.

I live in Colorado where Pot is legal.  I see no problem with legalizing marijuana.  People who want it can just grow it illegally so why not legalize it and get the tax income off of it?  Alcohol and cigarettes are processed poisons that we let people have...why not let them have something that is more natural...people are going to get it one way or another.  I do think that alcohol, marijuana and cigarettes should be taxed an extremely high(pardon the pun) rate.  This creates a win-win situation.  It makes it harder for people to afford something that is bad for them and, if they can afford it, the taxes can help bring down other taxes for people living a clean and healthy life.

I am sooooooo incredibly tired of hearing about this. I mean, what is the big deal about it, really?

Sick of it here in Colorado.

I THINK MARIJUANA NEEDS TO BE LEGALIZED!! it helps cancer and aids patients who are having serious problems eating or sleeping. in some cases it helps to energize certain individuals. from an economic point of view we can mass produce it for cheaper than the imports and tax it so all profits go back into the US economy. if people are worried about drug abuse, Switzerland noticed a drop in heavy drug users and overdoses when they legalized marijuana. it is less harmful than alcohol and less corrosive than cigarettes. which are both more of a gateway drug than marijuana ever has been.

I think by now it makes no difference. There are way more dangerous drugs out there on the street these days. Pot pales in comparison.

Absolutely not. why so government can tax the blank out of it. It messed with the mind and is uncontrolable what reaction each individual will have to it. alchohol should be illegal too for all that matters, it takes too many innocent lives

Yes I think pot should be legalized.  I think so because I believe God created it for our use.  Some dumb person online put that God made poison ivy too but you wouldn't rub it all over your body. I personally think that is comparing apples and oranges.  I believe pot has a lot of benefits for its use.  Further, the reasons it was made illegal were ignorant in the first place.

I don't understand why it isn't. I personally think it's a childish and immature habit myself, however anyone that wants it can obtain it just as easily legal or illegal. It's more natural than beer or cigarettes so however not good for you it is, it's better than the latter. Alcohol impairs you way more and I'd rather take my chances knowing someone is high over drunk behind the wheel anyway. Lastly if that's what they want to spend their money on in life so be it let them have it.

I have to kindly disagree with you here. I do know that there are plenty of dumb teens who use it, but I know a few people who have extremely stressful jobs and pains that obtain the substance just to relax.

Completely correct. We live under the assumption that we have a society based on freedom, yet we can't use a plant that people have praised and used for thousands of years due to some ignorant idiots in the 1950s. And it's been 60+ years now! People have the facts readily available, yet it's still illegal in the majority of the country. If you can't legalize something as simple as a plant which carries many benefits, you must question if your society is actually free.

Like everything use it with moderation. It is being widely used make it leagal and tax the heck out of them just like they do smokers. Make those that are selling it have to buy a lic. pay  a very high premium for the lic. and if they don't have one off to jail and community service with out being able to hunt or fish  because they broke the law. And anyone caught comming across the border, off they go back home. Deport them all.
