how old were you when you learned how to do laundry ?

I ve been doing laundry every since I was eight years old having 6 brother and 6 sister and both parents working somebody had to do it or wear dirty clothes. laundry not that hard to do any now folding is a different story all togather

    I come from the old school. At home, there was no washing machine. All laundry was done the old fashion way "by hand". I think I was 10 years old when I first saw the first washing machine. Now, I cannot live without one.

I don't remember when I learned, but I sure remember my mom at the old washing machine with the rollers you had to put the clothes through in order for them to be wrung out.  Also, I remember washing some on a scrub board!  Wow!  Seems like ages ago.

I learned to do laundry when I was 8 years old and I taught my boys how to do laundry when they were 8 years old also. It is good to know so the clothes don't get ruined.

Nancy5 I do not think your mom did an injustice to you maybe if she taught you it would have been nice but she was just trying to keep you as a kid.  Trying to let you be a kid and enjoy what few years of innocence and fun we have as children. I mean maybe if she taught you a few things without making you do so much work it would have benefited you. Childhood is so short let kids enjoy it teach them whats necessary let them be kids!!

I learned how to do laundry at age twelve. I also taught my boys how to do laundry when they were young because I worked two jobs to support them and wanted them to have clean clothes. they were nine and eleven. My parents owned a laundromat and I spent several years showing people how to do their laundry. I am very particular how clothes should be done. I like them to come out right.

I was about 19 when I learned how to do laundry.  I was never allowed to do laundry when I still lived at home.   (My mother was a perfectionist.)  My husband did our laundry the first year we were married.  I can't get him to even mate up his socks now!

Yeah, I think I was in my early teens when I requested to learn how to do laundry.  I recall my mom not washing and ironing my clothes as quickly as I needed them. I only had a few clothes that were acceptable to be seen in (or so I thought) and I figured if I helped my mom out, things would get cleaner quicker.

I learned at around 10 years old because we were many girls and had tones of clothes to wash.
