First, I would try to see a doctor, not a nurse practitioner. I like NPs and Physician's Assistant's, but recently had a really bad experience with one. Since you have high cholesterol and I guess you are saying you are borderline diabetic and you have neuropathy, your case is complicated and should be treated by the best doctor you can find or afford.
Eating one time a day (if I understood your correctly) could be part of the problem. Your body needed regular small meals to produce insulin properly and in a constant, consistent manner. Otherwise your blood sugar will drop when you have not eaten for long periods of time. You body starts to go into a fat retaining mode because it thinks would are starving. Then you eat and your blood sugar spikes.
If you can work with a dietician, they can give you a lot more information than I can. They can also give you ideas on exercises you can do that will not cause you more pain.
If your insurance won't pay for some of these services, believe me, I understand. In that case, I would get on the internet and read as much as you can about your conditions. Make sure you read articles from places like John Hopkins or at least WebMD and not miracle cure sources that are trying to sell you something.
My mother has diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, neuropathy, and arthritis. She gave up one day and just crawled in bed and never walked again. We tried to tell her that she needed to keep trying, but she has now been laying in bed or in a wheelchair for nine years. Whatever you do...keep trying!
