Environmental Science
« on: April 06, 2013, 10:46:00 am »

I wanted major in something related to Agriculture or Environmental but
at Irvine the closest thing I could major in is Environmental Science.

I guess that's fine with me since I'm still not entirely sure what my major is.

:)

I'd also like to major in Cognitive Science as  well.

Sorry - my fingers slipped
Goal #1 is to get a degree in anything that is of interest to you.  Chances are you will end up working on something other than your major degree.  Unless, of course, you go for a professional degree or license in something (medical)

My old high school environmental science teacher told me that you won't make any money or find any jobs that pay more than a McDonalds job if you major in Environmental Science.

@alice44 - I didn't go to college at all after high school and I make more money in a week than my sister does in 2 months.  For me, college is definitely useless....my uncle didn't go to college either and he owns a huge company in Miami making more than $3 million every 3 weeks.

Sorry - my fingers slipped

I have ways of making money that you know nothing of.

It all depends on your opportunities, connections (friends/acquaintances), and what job you get. Statistically, college graduates are more likely to get higher pay jobs than high school graduates. And with the way the economy is doing so far, even college graduates have to struggle to find low wage jobs.

I think it will also depend on where your talents lie.  With Environmental Science you probably also want to take Geology or Historical Geology.  With Cognitive Science, you will probably want to take the Psyche classes.

(Behavioral Science and Geology were my majors, oddly.)

If you do not complete Environment Science at least take some courses in Enviromental Studies. "Learn to be green" because we live in a very polluted world!
