Does anyone watch Hell's Kitchen?  Do you think Chef Ramsey is really that mean or is it just for the ratings?

I have seen him on other shows and hes no where near as intense.  Alot of the stuff the people on the show do though would getting irritating because they are constantly making stupid mistakes that could either hurt or kill someone.  I thought they were supposed to be really good for the most part and they are still making stupid mistakes like pink chicken.

They never show how they pick the contestants on this one.  I wonder if Chef Ramsey knows how much potential they have before they are on the show, or if it is done like a resume process.  He has a more human side, but on the show, he is  running a kitchen that puts his reputation on the line at every service.  He just demands perfection.  But he could use a little more tact sometimes.

I do watch Hells kitchen frequently.  Obviously these contestants know what they are getting into since it has been on television quite a while now.  He is highly respected in his industry so he must know what he is doing.  I enjoy it, don't always agree with it, but find it entertaining.

I think the intensity he portraits on the show is just because he feels so passionate about cooking, and demands the same high quality in the other chefs. He acts similar in Kitchen Nightmare as well, esp. when a restaurant owner or a chef disagrees with what he is saying or when the problem presents a health issue. I do think that some times he is a little rude, esp in the language he uses, but I also think that he's usually fair in the reason for his tirade. I also think that not only does he show great passion when someone does something wrong, but also shows passion when he feels someone does something well. For example, he'll sometimes stop everyone in the kitchen so that he can give praise for a well prepared dish. Outside of a kitchen setting, he does seem much more temperate in his nature, again suggesting that he just gets really intense / passionate while working with food. I actually wouldn't doubt that that really is his nature whenever he's working in a kitchen / restaurant. It may have been that the producers knew that he was like that and wanted to use this trait as a mechanism for gaining ratings as opposed to the other way around (that the producers told him to act that way).

I think it's a mix of both.  I think he normally would be harsh, but occasionally it may be a bit exaggerated.

I don't watch it any more and I don't like him.  I cant see how anyone wouldn't tell him to FO he has got to be the most arrogant person a live.

I think a lot of that is an act. I've saw him on a talk show the other day and he didn't act anything like that. I don't really like the show, though.

I believe it is for the ratings!  I have seen him on talk shows and read articles where he seems like a really nice and caring person!
