I have been in 24 different countries when I was in the Military and Yes most of them were considered Democracies but, the Justice systems are totally different. Young people normally don't think about how they would be treated under another country's justice system (other than US). I could tell you stories that would curl your hair, about what happened to friends of mine while I was deployed just for Drunk and disorderly.
The situation with Amanda Knox is that the Italian system does not have a double Jepordy law, which means if they find new evidence they can try this case as many times as they want. I doubt this will happen because the US would have to extradite her back to Italy, which means, arrest her in (US) and send her to Italy, this will not happen in my opinion because it would cause a huge uproar in this country and it would go against our own laws. I don't think the US government would take that chance.
I have not kept up on the case, what I do know is that she was going to School in Italy and sharing the apartment with this girl, the girl that was killed was not American. I believe she was Italian. You Don't even want to see Jails in other countries, they are closer to dungeons than jails, and that is no joke!
