Yuck, it's around the corner....which OTC meds do you prefer? I liked Claratin, but I dont think it did a good job last year.

Allergies hit me bad this past week and I NEVER get them!  ??? I think its because of the weather. Im in California and March has been totally bipolar. Some days it feels like a hot summer and some days it randomly pours... I dont even know what to take because I never usually have to deal with them. My whole face is itchy, eyes and nose especially. I even feel an itch inside my chest  :sad1: Hopefully I can find some herbal remedies. I wont take any hard medication  :-X

I have allergies all year round and so far they have been driving me crazy real bad this year. Nothing seems to help. OTC medications have never worked for me. Some says Zyrtec works well. I used to take Zrytec and Allegra but has a prescription not over the counter. Each persons situation is different. I am not looking forward to spring or summer allergies.

I use a prescription and a non prescription nasal sprays to attend to my allergies with mix results. I seem to have allergies year around, but the Spring tends to be my particular weakness. My eyes and nose is especially bad right now.

I take benadryl, take a shower, and use a wet towel to wipe in my nose.

Unfortunately, my "seasonal" allergies are all year around.  Claritin used to be effective but I had been taking it so long that I suspected I was building up immunity to that medication.  I used Allegra for a year, which did not totally alleviate the symptoms but got me by.  When I switched back to Claritin, it also was not 100% effective.  I am thinking about trying Zyrtec.

my husband uses the nasonex nose spray which is a prescription in combination with the walgreens brand generic of Zyrtec. This seems to work for him and we live close to the grass seed capital of the world. It took a long time to find a combination that worked for him.

I have all year round allergies. I recommend Zyrtec D... It's by far the only thing that has worked for me.

I  my house its a tuss up, my husband and younger daughter like Claritin, my hubby last year tried the generic for Claritin from target and said that to him it was better.  My oldest daughter whom is the worse sufferer of them all, likes Zirtec, but she has to use eye drops and Zaditor is the only one that helps her, she also needs nose spray, her allergies are the worse one I have ever seen.  As for me it stopped bothering me with nose and eyes etc. now I get eczema instead, which I help control with Claritin and a prescription eczema lotion.

I use the Dollar store brand sinus tablets. If I take them at the first sign of my sinuses filling up, I can usually keep it from getting worse.
I also use apple cider vinegar and honey mixed with water as a toddie. It helps clear everything.
