$188 phone bill
« on: May 16, 2009, 10:29:23 pm »
my bill is usually around $50 a month, but because i tried some offer(s) that charge a fee (what my carrier calls "premium texts"), my bill is almost $200 this month! that's a HUGE difference! guess i'll be using my cashout money to help pay my cell phone bill :crybaby2:

i knew it would cost a little extra, but i wasn't expecting that much! :sad1:

Always read the terms and conditions.  That's why I don't do a lot of the offers.  Anytthing with nphone will cost younbucks.

Same here... if they want a cell # they can kiss my  :bootyshake: . Some offers aren't worth it guys... while you are reaching into there pocket getting change they are in your piggy bank taking dollars! Gotta becareful and read those TOS and TOUs.

That being said none of us are above getting scammed from time to time. Sorry about your phone bill. That really sucks.

I am so sorry to hear that.  This is one of the reasons I never give out my cell # for surveys like that.  You always get caught up in scams like this.

I have been scammed, and I learned the hard way, even if you do read the TOS you still get scammed somehow. :sad1:

I haven't given out my cell number on any offers. It just seems like I am giving up a bit too much of my privacy, not that we have much these days. Now I have another reason.

I think you have to be careful with your home number also. I have seen some offers that say they will show up on your home bill. Especially some of the long distance ones but I think there are others also. :o
Sorry to hear about your huge bill. I have heard there are some you can get away with by not confirming the pin or by cancelling right away. I've never tried any though. Just sounds like too much hassel.

I have used my home number but I am pretty careful with it, wouldn't want to get a huge bill. My roomate did some crap a few years ago and I got stuck with a huge phone bill when he decided to move out.

we have blocks on our cell phones (due to teenagers abusing their privelages) no charges are allowed- something i never have to worry about even if i should offer my # up by mistake.  my kids still have their texting but they, nor i, can be charged for anything else...even if i deliberately wanted to... download a service that charges me - verizon won't allow it or, the charge,  unless they hear from me directly. A little piece of mind when doing these offers. Try the block if its a concern for you.

hmmm, i'll check that out as i have verzion as well. i'm not too worried about it anymore...i've put a stop to all unwanted texts, and i seem to have gotten most of the telemarketers to stop calling, and (what i should have thought about before...) i have stopped doing offers that require a phone number. i'll just have to pay for it on this one bill (both literally and figuratively speaking).

Thanks for the warning, i know I need to be careful with my phone number.  By the way, you can get a temporary number from this site called brrring.  Look it up.  You can use that number to signup and then switch it afterwards.  If you keep the number you can actually get paid money.  Google it.  I would love to give you the referral link but fusion cash bans it. But thats okay. Oh yeah, its free to join.
