I'm not catholic, but the new Pope seems to have the kind of qualifications I'd want in a Pope. He has certainly lived according to his vows.(poverty, etc) Time will tell if he's up to the job.

I am  a teacher- my students are actually studying Europe right now, so it tied in nicely. We watched the pope watch stuff too. It was nice. I am not religious, but I explained to my children this is all history in the making.

Pope....euuhh.  I'm not following it much, but I am aware of this occurance.  He seems qualified.  I'm Baptist COGIC "Church of God in Christ".   :angel11:

I say, the new pope Francis is going to restore some form of humility, honesty and above all, respect for the poor, not only in lip service, but also action......Amen.

We have a new pope and the whole world is rejoicing. i hope this new pope leads the catholic church back to God.

We are responsible for our own soul, The Church is the people, so we all have to do better to help the POPE out, Pray for Him, Love Him. send positive thoughts. Love Peace and Harmony

Yep.  This news is a few weeks old. I don't understand the purpose of the pope.  Just another white man in "power."
