If a person thinks GOD is fictional then why comment about it or comment on others believe. Basic you should not even address it unless you feel you want to push your thoughts on who actually believe in GOD. Leave it alone and let others believe in GOD. To me prayer is a time when I can sit down in a quiet place and have a heart to heart conversation with my best friend. I can talk about anything and not worry about being judged. I know that no matter what; I am loved unconditionally. When I have that special time every day it helps me to get through my week and seems to lessen the stress. I couldn't make it without my BEST FRIEND!

It's not "stupid ridiculous nonsense" to them.  What they feel about prayer doesn't interfere in your life and what you practice or don't practice.  As yours do not interfere with theirs.  Courtesy is a great word when put into practice.

Numerous reasons-

1.) It's a public forum
2.) It's a DEBATE and DISCUSS forum
3.) It may make intelligent people actually think about their own beliefs
4.) Someone may come up with some interesting/insightful answers

Telling people to not address something because 'they aren't part of the club' is both smug and childish.

Prayer to me is being able to "talk" to a higher power and communicate all sorts of information.  It is also the belief that there is "someone" to talk to who might provide guidance.  It is also a type of "thank you" for all the things in your life that make it all worthwhile.

Prayer..... for me..... is a way to talk to God.
To tell Him what's on your mind (oh I know, He already knows) but it's all about having a relationship with God!
Because you are also really suppose to take the time to listen for what He has to tell you back  - No matter how
He wishes to show you what He has to say to you.

Actually, it does affect other people. If you "pray" instead of taking your kid to a hospital, and they die, I'd say it absolutely interferes with others lives. There are many instances of this. It doesn't matter if it's not "stupid ridiculous nonsense" to them, studies have been done and have proved it just doesn't work. If you keep doing something that has been shown to not work, then it can be defined correctly as "stupid ridiculous nonsense".

How I'd define prayer, however, is with a dictionary. It has a definition, I don't see how it can be up for debate. Words have meanings. If each person gets to define them however they want, we'd all just be babbling unable to communicate with each other.

Essential to start your day for direction, guidance and spiritual awareness.  We are not aware of many things that we will encounter in the day but with prayer as a start allows us to be guided and The Lords angels to protect us each day.

When I pray I ask God to point me in the direction he wants me to go. I also thank God for all the things he has put in my life because I feel like a million dollars for what he has done in my life. I also pray for other people to put them in the direction He wants them to go so they feel as great a I do. I also thank God for anything that goes right in my life because I know that it is His doing. by the way God's way is great you should try it.
