The Beatles
« on: February 25, 2013, 06:11:47 am »
So As I've mentioned before I am Jewish and yesterday our kids in Sunday School did a Purim Play. It was sent in the time of the Beatles and our Cantor wrote it. It was like the four members of the Beatles were narrirators and the rest of the kids doing the other parts. Our Canter had a contest to see how many of the Beatles songs, were indirectly said and also sung with changing the words to say the story of Ester, we could pick out. At the end she said there was 97 and the Play took about 45 to do. How many of you out there think they could have picked out the song titles just by listening? (The winner got 67). By the way my 10 year old daughter was great as were the rest of the kids. They ranged in age from about 5 to 16.

Wow!  I'll admit picking out Beatles songs by their names isn't easy for kids aged 5 to 16.  But you gotta admit, the kids probably have parents that play the Beatles music so the songs, and maybe even the words, are in their heads!  Haha!  My parents used to play music from generations I was not a part of, yet it's how I came to appreciate the music from generations past.  That was pretty creative what they did!  Congratulations to the winner.  It sounds like the kids had fun.

I think I know every Beatles song they recorded and all the words to all of them.  I dont exactly know why except that in the 60's, I was fascinated by the Beatles as was everyone of my generation and their songs have stayed around over the years..

I have only heard the highly publicized Beatles' songs and I haven't had a chance to look up their music yet.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

The kids did have fun. But even some of us parents had trouble getting the song titles because sometimes the reference to the song in the play was only a word or two fitted into the dialog.

the beatles were involved in occult y would u do that in church? they were friends with aleister crowley who sacrificed babies to satan, i think the church kids should see the beatles instead of god though
Do you know the story of Esther? That's what the kids were doing. Our Canter just tried to make it more fun for the kids by choosing a Beatles theme. Even having them speak with a British accent if they could. That's it!

This is such a neat idea! I have a very ranged taste in music- a little bit of everything (except for rap!)- but The Beatles is one of my all time favorite bands. I'm not a church-goer by any means, but even I would be tempted by something like this. :)
