I'm so glad I live in the north east where we have very few tornadoes!! They are so scary.

I remember as a child living on my grandparents' farm, our family frequently had to go to "the cave" (cellar) near the front porch because of tornado warnings in the area.  For a kid, it was an adventure and I can still recall the musty smell of that underground cement bunker and the scent of a kerosene lantern.

Tornados are the worst.  You don't have any warning - they just appear.  I've spent many hours in the basement or under the stairs.

We don't get many here in N.M. but we have had a few and no they are not any fun to be in.  And most are out on the flatland where there are not many homes. I always hate to hear about them hitting anywhere, floods , earthquakes, fire. Because it causes so much harm and distruction. Our Gov. sure doesn't get in a hurry to help our own country out. But can't seem to wait to send help anywhere else.

I grew up in the midwest and remember having to go down into the basement for tornado warnings.  The closest one ever hit to us was about a mile away, still pretty close.

I saw one while driving at night. The weather was so bad it forced me to pull over and when I did I could see the outline of the tornado in the numerous lightening flashes. Absolutely frightening, you couldn't tell which way it was moving, so it was sit and pray.

Argh. I really don't like tornadoes. They sure do creep me out. I can't help but stare at them when I happen to catch video footage on t.v. or on the internet. Tornadoes are so spooky, but they're also sort of "neat".
