learn some Yoruba, some pidgin English, and some Twi. I picked some Yoruba up a month or two ago: hey awon omoge njo jo jo jo jo, which means "sexy ladies are dancing" from the parody song "Naija London Style"  and some Twi "hey shahii keep it bad" from the song "Azonto vs. Gangnam Style" which I am not going to get into what it means. pidgin (broken) English is spoken in West Africa, Hawaii, and the Caribbean.

I am fluent in English both written and spoken. I also am fluent in french again written and spoken. I can understand most of the Italian language but only speak a little. Because of the Italian and french I can understand some Spanish too. I will eventually take some classes as I would very much love to learn in fluently. I also know a bit of sign language but again it would mean a lot to me to be able to converse in it. I don't know any one personally that I need it for but who knows when it may come in handy!

I only know english.  I studied french in school but I really did not get into the languages.  I am more of a math/engineer type person and when I was young, I had a reading comprehension problem.  To this date, I still have a reading comprehension problem.  I think the main problem is that I am a visual learner. Unless I can visualize what I am reading, I do not understand what I read.  Plus I self-diagnosed myself middle of last year with Asperger's Syndrome and was confirmed by sister who is a pediatrician.

My first language is Afrikaans, my 2nd (the one I speak mostly) is English (the British version), my 3rd language is German and then I have a smattering of Zulu, Xhosa, Tswana and the dialect of the Western Cape Koi-San peoples of South Africa

My first time on the forum, being a new user and recently verified, then found this tiopic and I said to myself... I swear I'm going to find out the person who started this topic speaks Afrikaans, which I also do... and how right I was!!! Of course, South Africa, where Afrikaans is one of the 11 official languages, is in the news for all the wrong reasons, with all the bad and very sad news of Oscar Pistorius apparently having shot killed his girlfriend!! Let's see how this one plays out....
