Vinyl floors for me, yes we have two dogs and it sounds like they have on high heel shoes.

I love a wood floor but carpet is nice. I would rather just put an area rug onto a wood floor especially if you have pets.

In my previous home (in another country) I had wooden floors throughout the house - they looked stunning and as I lived in a semi-tropical climate, there were no worries about cold floors, etc. However, here I am doing house cleaning for other people and it is far easier just to push a vacuum cleaner around on the carpeting. The tiled and wooden floors show up all the scuff marks and spills - especially if there are pets or little kids around. Hard work!!

There was carpeting throughout our house when we bought it;  older house and different color in each room. lol  Did not like that but we lived with it for a little while then we replaced it with good quality carpeting all the same color.  After years and years of suffering with allergies and sinus problems we ripped it up (and yes, it was very disgusting what was underneath) in every room except the formal living room.  There was really pretty wood floors underneath so I cleaned them and polished them on my hands and knees and they looked beautiful!  Every room had the wood floors except the bathrooms, the den and the kitchen;  that was inlaid tile and not easy to deal with so we put lanolium on top of that.  Since then we have put laminate wood down in the den and tile in the kitchen and bathrooms.  Not gonna say I'd never do carpet again in the bedrooms but not while we have an inside dog and cat.  I love the wood but it is cold especially on pier and beam houses and I don't use rugs because of the animals.

I love carpet because its warm and comfy but with dogs I think wood is way cleaner. You can pick up spills very easily and just seems way better what do you guys think?

i like the look of wood. it also easier to clean.i have carpeting in the whole house but my cat is ruining it.

Wood is easier to clean, but carpeter is nice to lay briefly down on even though they're not as good for people with allergies. But on my next change I might consider Cork.

I prefer carpet everywhere besides the kitchen and bathrooms.  Since I have dogs though, I only have carpet in my bedroom.

We have an older house and once the new roof is on and the rest of the new windows I will be pulling up all the crudy carpet and cheap flooring in the rest of the house and putting in wood floors. after i get all the painting done. That means all the awful trim they had in here goes too. Some i maybe can keep but it will be a lot of work stripping and then repainting so not sure on that yet. bathroom has tile so it will be the last job. Oh lordy why did i think it all could be done. But gives me something o look forward too.

I like hard wood floors. Carpet is warm and comfy but they will have lots of dust.

In the house we just moved out of we had to take the carpet out of two rooms. Luckily the living room and dinning area were tiled. The house we just moved into has NO carpet...yay! It has the nice wooden tiled look. It's so much easier to keep clean with animals. Even without animals you're tracking in dirt and stuff.  :cat:  :bunny:  :dog:
