Personal Messages ?

  I've been a member here for around 6 months. Today I thought I'd really check things out... So I added a member to my "Buddy List", most of you know him, give's great advice when we come to trouble spots... Don't know if you can name names on here either, but as a hint OB... ... I was gonna send a personal greeting to him and got this pop-up "You are not allowed to send personal messages".... Now my question is... Can we make contact with each other... or is that a Big No-No

From what I've read, there used to be a way to make contact with other members - but it was abused.   Now you can only make contact with your referrals or the person who referred you - and only if they checked off that you are allowed to contact them when they signed up.   I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.   I do know though, that you can google the person you are wanting to say hello to, and contact him through his web site if you want.

i think they want us to earn money and not just send personal messages to each other, but the member you are talking about has been a valued member for a long time and they (fc) might allow it but its better to ask kohler or the admin FIRST.

Thanks guys for your input/info... Boy-Oh-Boy, I'd-a-thought I would have gotten more responses, Oh Well, Can't have everything.  
Yeah "mc1962" I've been to his page(s) and shot an e-mail to thank him for his help/info here (and there) but got no reply... Some great photo shots (if you check-it-out, of his home-town, family & out fishing in the open-sea). This is one of the reasons I'd  wish we could  send personal messages, people like him is what makes FC what it is (very helpful) !!! I'm fairly sure kohler or the admin. are aware that we have Googled his homepage, so I skipped that request.
Any-who, I'm still open for any help and/or info anyone is willing to past along; (I don't think I'm the only one wondering about this?)
