Weather Channel

Does anyone watch the weather chanel on a regular basis? What do you think of them naming the winter storms? I think it is ridiculous and I think the anchors are sometimes getting ready to bust out laughing when they have to say those name.

Weather Channel I watch the channel pretty often, Yes some of the naming do sound strange.

I guess they are running out of things to do and say and they are just trying to make talking about the weather more interesting.

When I had cable I'd watch it regularly.  I was chasing hot air balloons on weekends and would set the tv to wake me up with the weather channel.  I kind of miss it, but we have a broadcast equivalent.  From what my brother tells me they've gone the way of MTV with all the other programming they show.  Too bad.

I think it's silly to name every storm.  That's not helpful.  Sounds like a lame attempt at sensationalizing to me.

Good analogy regarding MTV (assuming that your brother meant that they no longer play videos), the weather channel has a lot of airtime devoted to shows not about telling us the forecast. All about the ratings.

That better be a really big, bad storm! Enough that it has a lot of damage like it is taking its wrath out on someone/thing.

I don't watch the weather channel. But, we're watching storm chasers at this moment, which is why this thread caught my attention. My 2nd grader loves this!

I do not watch the weather channel much but I think it does sound a little silly to name the winter storms.
